To Dance or Not To Dance...?

So, if there is a family function…do girls feel okay dancing in front of male relatives?

In a mixed function…family only…no outsiders.

Re: To Dance or Not To Dance...?

I have *never *been allowed to dance at *family weddings. *Ever. My dad just wont allow it, Its only me and my dads cousin who isnt allowed. Everyone else does the twists and bends as much as their heart desires.
I've always been a dancer i love it and i dance where i can where daddys not about! :D

Re: To Dance or Not To Dance...?

No dance in mixed gathering .... period (no if and buts ..like oh only cousins etc) ....

Re: To Dance or Not To Dance...?

no dancing at all in front of male relatives. family is wayyyyyy too strict on that.

but if it's all female relatives then dance away.

Re: To Dance or Not To Dance...?

It just depends on the family. Some people are not allowed to dance at their own family parties so they do it when their family is not around.

It should be moderate and allowed if family men are there only.

erm, im not too sure. not allowed in front of lots of men, i think cusins may be ok, not too sure now im married. before i dont think my dad wouldve liked it, but with time he became less strict so now my sis can dance away,,,,,

Re: To Dance or Not To Dance...?

I love doing the chicken dance! and it's totally acceptable.

Re: To Dance or Not To Dance...?

this raises another question

if many parents does not allow their daughters to dance in mixed gathering, why are they normally OK with their son dancing b/w na-mehram girls? hypocrisy, isnt it?

Re: To Dance or Not To Dance...?

We usually have seperate sitting areas for male n female and dances start usually when only family n close relatives r left so its ok then.

Re: To Dance or Not To Dance...?

Hum shareef loug hain, we dont dance in front of strangers for free, only in front of family.

Re: To Dance or Not To Dance...?

People in my khaandaan wouldn't mind if its infront of cousins and the occasion deserves it as long as its not infront of non-relatives.

I wouldn't mind it when I had kids as long as its not infront of people who are non-relatives.

Re: To Dance or Not To Dance...?

I don't agree with letting sons dance away while daughters can't.

Re: To Dance or Not To Dance...?

no, not even if its just females around .. none of my parents side ever dances or so perhaps just move their hands, and that too when its some close-relative wedding :p, but my uncle's wife's brothers arent too strict about it, their daughters nd sons do dance and plan it weeks before some occasion . They even dances when male cousins are around. So yea we just sit and watch! lol
But even if we were allowed to dance i dont think i would ever have the courage to do so..

As opposed to dancing for a fee?
Sorry…u can edit this..I couldn’t resist :hehe:

Re: To Dance or Not To Dance...?

There is no need to edit. This is exactly what I meant :D

It was part of omar shareed dialogue. He said to his samdhi (father of his son-in-law to be) .. hum shareef loug hain, hum apni bahu baityon ko ghairon ke saamnay muft me nahi nuchwaatay.

Re: To Dance or Not To Dance...?

no mixing between females and males.....na-mahramo ke samne dancing kabhi nai.......i can bring up an ayah on that matter if u want:@:

Omar Shareef is yucky. Every time I see him, aisa lagta hai jaise Pakistan mein paani ki kami hai. Plus, his jokes are so cheap and always about women dying!

I dont know if there is anything wrong with a family only gathering and the girls dancing...ghairon ke samne nahin lekin apnon mein insaan agar thora free nahin hoga to kab hoga?

Re: To Dance or Not To Dance...?

Only in female gathering it is ok , but otherwise , I don't think so . But my reasoning is that desi women look so hawt that anyone can slip :p

Khush ho jao Namaan!

^ Youtube tells me this is very common. Seems like in this video both the dulhan’s and dulha’s families are present.

On my sister’s wedding last year, all desi relatives were quite shocked when they found out us 3 sisters won’t be dancing for our aapi.
