Re: to bi or not to bi
well being a doctor is real good an option but if u think k u gonna stat earning like anything in this field to that is wrong, this profession needs all ur input,ur time ur energy ,ur loyalty,as far as being worth it ki baat hey to if u r a good doc u r respected like anything u make ur own space, and in pakistan there is always need of docs, but its to be seen k becoming a doc doesnot mean only doin mbbs, its a full time job, after it u gonna sppecialize ,and for that if u wanna go out to situation getting quite out of hands as far as plab is concerned,so future though is good yet u need to plan alot what n how u gonna do post grad level studies and from where,
future of doc in pak yeh hey k if u r patient enuff to bear the low pay rates in the beginning then its ok,but if u hav in mind k jesey he job mili sub kaam asaan ho jayein gey to its all false
but nonethe less a good doctor always finds his way to progress,Pakistan mein future achah ey but unka jo bouht achi qualifications ker letey hein higher degrees form abroad
am not discouraging ,i myself becuming one,but just telling k though its a noble profession n hav loads of respect yet u ought to hav degreees in hand too
Re: to bi or not to bi
what are postgraduate options that are available to pakistani doctor and after doing post graduate training then is ur future bright:confused:
Re: to bi or not to bi
aw dont worry
acha tell me r u into medical or just thinking of chosing it as yet
well baat yeh hey k nothing can be promised as sych but this is sumthing sure k if u hav the skills and u know ur subject no one can stop u then
and han yar post graduation and specialization k baad u get to hav a stable position but wohi hey for that u need time like if u do ur mbbs then a year house job then u prepare for FCPS part1 take the exam, clear it, then u need to hav a 4 years clinical experience before appearing in part 2
so its the game of nerves
and i dont hav much knowledge abt postgrad options but would definitely try to find them
Re: to bi or not to bi

Re: to bi or not to bi
Well Rapunzle has said it all. Being a doctor is very satisfying but if you're thinking of earning money and that too by living in Pakistan, you're getting into the wrong profession.
If you join this field, you'd have to study for life. Its not like you do this or that and after that your studies arecomplete, no its not like. Secondly, you have to do Post graduation. Without that, you won't be considered literate in the medical field...yeah..literally !
There is an initial period of about 6 years when you're underpaid. Its like working for about a 100$ a month for the first year, and if you start doing post graduation, you get a little under 200$ a month. So thats a very hard period for young graduates. Long hours and no money....frustration high...figure out the rest
Having said all that, there is nothing like being a doctor. Itni alaa feeling hoti when you're treating someone that you can't compare it with any other profession. Its very noble.
And you're very highly respected. Everyone in the family needs u hehe and people look up to you.
So the choice is yours. If you can afford it....you should join it.
As for me, after my own experience, I didn't let any of my nephews even think about this field but I do want my neices to be doctors.
Re: to bi or not to bi
YES I THINK FOR FEMALES ITS A NICE PROFESSION BUT
FOR A MALE I THINK IF
U DO MBBS FOR FIVE YEARS THEN WILL BE 23 ONE YEAR HOUSE JOB U GO 24 THEN 5 TO 6 YEARS OF POST GRAD U GO 30 AND STILL U ARE NOT EARNING
SIRF NOBLE FEELINGS SI LIFE TO NAHIN CHALTI NA:D
Re: to bi or not to bi
I THINK U TOOK IT A BIT SERIOUSLY BUT IF U THINK PRACTICALLY THEN U WILL FEEL THAT I AM RIGHT
THERE ARE OTHER FIELDS WHICH ARE ALSO RESPECTFUL AND U GET DECENT PAY AND DECENT WORKINK HOURS NOT LIKE MEDICINE IN WHICH U HAVE TO DO NIGHT CALLS AND EVEN WORK ON HOLIDAYS AND STILL NOT BEING PAID ADEQUATELY
NOW I ASK U A QUESTION IF U HAVE A FAMILY AT ABOUT 26 OR 27 AND U WORK DAY N NIGHT STUDY ,AND GET 8 OR 9000 RUPEES WILL U BI ABLE TO GAVE UR FAMILY A GUD LIFE
WHERE AS IN OTHER PROFESSIONS U GET GUD PAY,LESS WORKING HOURS SO MORE TIME FOR FAMILY AND LESS STUDY
I KNOW MEDICINE IS A NOBLE PROFESSION BUT NOT FOR A PERSON LIKE ME WHO PUTS FAMILY 1ST AND OTHER PEOPLE SECOND
IF I JION OTHER PROFESSION AND AM FININACIALLY STABLE I CAN ALWAYS HELP OTHERS ITS NOT JUST MEDICINE THAT IS NOBLE
Re: to bi or not to bi
nah, I didn't take anything seriously. If you've got a stable financial background and you dn't have to worry about earning money, then medicine is really good. I totally agree with what you said. Thats what I try to tell anyone who wants to join this field, that don't even think of making money while living in Pakistan. Not for atleast 10 years.
It goes with the saying keh "doctors ke bachay hi aish kertay hein " :(
Re: to bi or not to bi
WHAT ARE OPTION FOR A DOC OUTSIDE Pakistan
any bright ideas plz:D
Re: to bi or not to bi
as far as UK is concerned, with the new rules that they've introduced...wahan halat kharab hein
US is still a good option.
Even in Pakistan, if you choose a suitable field then you can earn enough at the right age. I'm talkign about fields liek anaesthesia, radiology and dermatology.
Re: to bi or not to bi
^^ Its pretty interesting but there're alot of senior people in this field. Everyone prefers to go to professors when it comes to their own sickness.
Re: to bi or not to bi
so cardiology option also out:bummer:
Re: to bi or not to bi
wow.optimism at its fullest.a touch of dedication.
earning
u earn like hell in this field if ur a man n know wat to do .for women its restricted but put in 5 lakhs n u get 50,000 a month in ultra sound.
need of the profession
total morons become doctors here who dont know the a b c d of the profession.u just need to ba a below average human but since the past 2 yrs criteria has become quite strict.before that an ape cud become a doctor.
respect
well yes poor people from kacchi basti respect u very much but nobody wud even give a guy a rishta if he is not fcps part 1 cleared.for a woman the majority work in pathological labs to stay away from men.rest become gynaecologists n go crazy.
**
mbbs**
just 3 yrs back the pay was 5k some rupees for housejob after putting in 6 years.now its 10k which is much much more suitable.
postgrad
yeah right.no admission in any good hospital till u clear fcps part 1 and now they have vivas included in it so good luck clearing that.
**
fcps part 2**
haha.people get to parents of 4 children, support a pot belly n get bald trying to clear.better option is to work in a hospital and go abroad for mrcp frcp mrcog etc etc.u r passed on merit not on the whims of old professors who r manipulative b@4tards .u r absolutely nothing if u dont clear a post grad exam.

true.

yes,so many become smokers.so many start to drink....didnt u know?many see the ladies they wished to b married get married to others n become quite depressed.it usually comes at a gr8 cost.medicine in pak is either for the poor, they become mbbs and they start a clinic, thats good enuff for them.or the rich who r financially secure.the middle class suffers n u shud see wat they become.
am not discouraging ,i myself becuming one,but just telling k though its a noble profession n hav loads of respect yet u ought to hav degreees in hand too
yes noble profession.that was wat got me into it.maybe u can maintain its nobility.thats not sarcasm ok.
Re: to bi or not to bi
^^ I couldn't agree more
Re: to bi or not to bi
mbbs
just 3 yrs back the pay was 5k some rupees for housejob after putting in 6 years.now its 10k which is much much more suitable.
6000 something during house job
12000 after house job
for fields like anasthesia, you get something around 15 K.
