I have curly hair. I put my hair in bun or braid only. I am so tired of it now. I want to change my hair styles. But if i leave open my hair get frizzy and look ugly. If I dont brush than they look ok.
I apply moroccan oil after shower and sometimes other mustard or olive oil before shower.
What do you guys do to your curly hair and how do you style. I am tired of my hair in bun. How to you guys style your curly hair.
What products are you using after wash. I have tried john frieda frizz ease but it doesnt work.
If I dont brush my hair after shower they get tangled easily. Should I stop brushing after shower???. If I do my curls look awesome but I am concerned of tangles than?
Rule # 1 of curly hair....do not brush it! You cannot brush curly hair and not expect it to frizz.
Also, please specify what type of curly hair you have...thick or thin? Are your curls naturally right or loose? What celebrity does it resemble the most?
If you give me more specific info, I can maybe guide you a little better as to what products to try
What kind of curly hair ? you did'nt mention that .
My sister has curly hair like those of pakistani actresses sarwat gilani and Annie khalid .
The only problem with curly haired people is that they themselves dislike their hair , so obviously they assume that nothing can be done to such hair and its looks ugly , which is not true .
and yes Khattichic is right , do not brush curly hair . let the curls remain intact and you can use some mouse or cream for curls and they'll be more manageable .
First things first, get a hair cut that flaunts your curls. I find hair in layers works beautifully.
Second, forget your comb and hair brush. If you must have a comb, have one with wide teeth. Otherwise use your fingers to detangle.
Make conditioner your best friend. Try and experiment with various types and brands. Once you find your holy grail product, stick with it.
I've recently discovered silicone free shampoo, and it's ah-mazing! It cleanses my hair and makes them light, not heavy, and shiny. I still use a conditioner afterwards otherwise my hair gets ridiculously tangled.
If you're going to be combing your hair, do it once, and leave it. Do it right after taking a shower. You won't have the same tightness to your curls afterwards, but they would still be pretty looking.
At night tie your hair up, in a bun preferably, and then go to sleep. It prevents frizzies in the morning.
Find some kind of leave in products for helping the hair keep its curl. Different products work differently for differnet hair types so you might have to experiment.
And finally, don't forget good ol' tayl to give the hair moisture. Every other week, for 2 hours is good enough. I love a combination of 2 parts olive oil to 1 part bitter almond oil.
Exactly what essie said. Silicone & Sulphate free shampoo and conditioners should be used, as they both lock in moisture and are less harsh. You have to work with the integrity of your hair, not against it. By brushing, you're going against your hair's natural tendencies.
And yes, you have to find the products that work for you...be it a mousse, gel or creme. Keep experimenting. Once you find the right one that gives you the result you desire, stick with it.
I have very curly hair and I'm on the noo poo bandwagon now. No poo=no shampoo. I don't use any chemicals on my hair and use only natural bar soaps and apple cider vinegar as a conditioner. Also, I stopped washing my hair every day. My hair is sooo much better alhamdullilah.
Do go and find out about no poo on Google and join the Facebook forums. Chemicals are so so bad for our hair. Sulphate, parabens etc. Go research on it!

What conditioner do you use? Sorry I'm on my phone now and haven't checked out the thread you linked us to
If you want to detangle, you must do it straight out of the shower otherwise you cannot. You’re looking at way too much breakage.
Do not brush - ever. Always use a wide tooth comb…or like me…I use my fingers.
When I am in the shower, I use a conditioner to detangle while wet. I’ll run my fingers through it once I get out to make sure there are no knots - knots are nightmares in curly hair. To help with tangles, I use this and I love it:
Lots of people also use the towel wrap method. They will detangle, use a styling cream and then wrap their hair upside down in a towel to help with curl definition.
Pantene Pro V makes a conditioner I really like for my curls.
This is my hair. Naturally curly. It’s how it looks every day.
I use sulphate free shampoo and conditioner (either loreal or pantene)…I detangle with my fingers in the shower. Once I’ve done the final rinse i flip my head over/down to wrap in a towel. When I get out, I unwrap the towel and again, with my head flipped down, scrunch in the product. This way, I’m not over handling my hair, tangling or disturbing the curls. After the product is scrunched in I flip my head back up, arrange the side part and that’s it…don’t touch it again as it air dries!!
I don’t use a diffuser anymore. Nor do I straighten it excessively. Actually, I barely straighten it at all. I use very little heat tools, and mashallah, my hair is healthy and shiny. My hairdresser always comments on how healthy my hair is.
Embrace curly hair, don’t shy away from it!
On days I don’t have time to wash my hair and start from scratch, I’ll use a straightner to smooth out the front and sides and pull it up into a bun.
Also, like others have said, the cut is extremely important. I can’t do short layers, longer layers work better for my hair, and I stay away from blunt cuts as well.
Hi Khattichic
My hair are same as yours. can you please post pic of you shampoos and other products that you use. I have tried several products but they all dont work. Now i will do step by step as you and see if my hair are improved.
do u dry your hair with towel or not? and when they are dry do they get tangled again or not?
