Kids,

This is a serious topic. Thousands of kids from middle-eastern and asian households are going through internal pain at school - particularly middle and high school. It is important that they are supported at this vulnerable age for their own mental health. I suggest following:

  1. Teach them mind over feelings. Mental strength
    1. Remind them of the colonial days - that the so called civilized goras weren't all that civilized just 60 years ago. Not to breed enmity but just to show that an asian or middle-easter heritage is nothing to be ashamed of.
  2. Tell them with examples, crooks and injustice are universal but truth and justice always ultimately prevail
    1. Invite white kids for sleepovers, parties and for God's sake, when they come, have something they can eat without sweating (along with the smaosas and pakoras

Don't you guys realize that we can never completely assimilate with the Caucasion's or as yall say the while folks. I guess our religion plays a large part in defining us as a whole and to a certain extent so does our culture.

No matter how much you may befriend someone, there still will be many differences, along with the general stereotypes. It seems like everyone is sick and tired of the persistant racial discrimination, so why don't you guys move back to your homeland.. I mean theres nothing wrong with it..
Even one day I could see myself living back in my country and not having to worry about explaining every single detail about myself and heritage to random people.. not that I am not proud or anything but it just gets to a point where you begin to realize that explaining yourself won't get you very far...

Not of the mindset that every skinny brownish colored person is out to blow up my house.

I do think there are probobly people that are...but I think those people come in a variety of colors...

I can understand your feeling insulted and hurt by off-color jokes.

I know this is not the same..but I have been inuated with "pollock" jokes for years... Is a fact of life for people with "ski" names.

maniac my appearance is just as you said yours was, and TDW my name is exactly as you mentioned and i travel all the time. Everytime i go the the airport they take away my ID while i stand in the line. people standing behind me have to wait for 30 minutes before the person on the counter comes back and gives me the ID back, appologises that my name got selected for special checking randomly and then let me go. And it happens everytime i travel.
If you want to make it frustrating for you, it will be frustrating. For me its not.

Proudpakistani, how much of it can you take though? I went to an airport with Abdullah recently and I was outraged at their behavior. I can't believe this country sells itself as the paragon of freedom and morality but then turns around and does this. The behavior was civil but it made me so angry at what hid behind that civility.

Give yourself a pat on the back for your tolorent and patient attitude.

I'm not sure how much patience I would be able to conger in that situation.

I imagine gets old .... though...after a while I suppose one could get used to it.

Anyhow ..

Just wanted to say that you deserve credit for keeping positive attitude.

Proud Pakistani, if your name is Abdullah Ahmed too then realize everytime you go anywhere you are being watched because the name is on a list called the Office of Foreign Assets Control Specially Designated Nationals (SDN) list.

Dear Maniac,

Quite a few middle-easterners on that list...perhaps even that majority have middle-eastern or I suppose Arabic? sounding names....

.....not meaning to seem prejudicial by using the term "sounding" though I suppose could be taken that way...if so..... forgiveness is requested in advance...

Anyhow...

There are also quite a few Central and South American persons on the list.

I even noticed a couple eastern europeans.

I think the only "White" people we might have are the few Pathans on this forum... They dont count I think...
