To all Houstonite Evacuees

I know there is a separate thread about the Hurricane, but I just wanted to inform all the Muslim evacuees, who are coming to Austin for shelter.

There are 2 major mosques in Austin you can go to.

The first one is North Austin, and the other one is in South East Austin.

North Austin:

Take I-35 North
Take the Braker Lane Exit
Turn Left on Braker Lane
Go straight, and turn right on Lamar
Go straight for about a mile, and the North Austin Masjid is on the left.

South Austin Masjid

Take I-35 South
Take the Manor Road Exit
Turn Left on Manor Road
Keeping going straight for about 4 miles, and the Masjid is on the left.
It is huge, so you should be able to spot it.

This is the website for all the info you need

Re: To all Houstonite Evacuees

^^

Second one is in Houston so that’s no use…

Re: To all Houstonite Evacuees

the traffic is moving at a snail's pace. People that started out at 11 pm last night, have only been able to go 40-50 miles.

Re: To all Houstonite Evacuees

Imagine the amount of petrol people are wasting just sitting in traffic. I hope they don't get caught out on the open road when the storm hits.

Re: To all Houstonite Evacuees

What is making them move so slow? It's a straight road...

Re: To all Houstonite Evacuees

Good question Lajjo, the straight road eventually ends in downtown Dallas. Need I explain more?

Re: To all Houstonite Evacuees

^^

k...Thanks...

Re: To all Houstonite Evacuees

Funguy,

I don't see traffic block here in downtown..i am looking out the window..i think whats happening is that there is construction being done at Huntsville and Corsicana that maybe slowing down traffic. .

Re: To all Houstonite Evacuees

How about they detonate a nuke in the eye of the storm...Maybe that'll dissipate it...

But I guess it's too late now...Too close to land...

Re: To all Houstonite Evacuees

Lajjo, I don't appreciate the sarcastic tone in your posts for such a catastrophy that's about to happen. Some of us have very dear ones in the middle of this all.

Re: To all Houstonite Evacuees

FG...

Baba what sarcasm do you see in my question?

Re: To all Houstonite Evacuees

A sticky that lists all the places of refuge and shelter outside Houston should be posted above...

Somthing like 'Hurricane Rita shelters' or something that lists only the places of refuge and Masajid...

Re: To all Houstonite Evacuees

Lajawab, sorry brother. May be I misunderstood your nuke remark.

Re: To all Houstonite Evacuees

Well, even if the hurricane isn't as bad as Katrina (or by some freak occurance, misses Houston entirely), I'm glad measures are being taken to evacuate people out of the (much larger) city.

This precaution is far more agreeable than the risk.

Re: To all Houstonite Evacuees

Phone: (405) 948-6188

Phone: (405) 946-2116
