Ok here’s the recipe:

1/2 cup yellow moong daal
1/4 cup pink masoor daal
1/4 cup chana daal
1 tbs arhar (toor) daal

Wash and soak in water for half hour.
Fry an onion sliced, when golden, add 1 tsp crushed garlic and 1 tsp crushed ginger, 4-5 kari patta, 1 sliced jalapeno, haldi, zeera, red chilli powder, 1 tbs assorted shan masalas such as karahi masala + meat masala (trust me, this adds the zing), 1 tomato chopped and bhuno quickly. Add daals and pressure cook on med-high. Make sure there’s at least 5-6 cups water otherwise the moong daal with become really thick. When pressure cooker “seeti” blows, lower flame and cook for 15 mins.

For tarka, fry a small onions, slit green chillies and just a tsp of those assorted masalas and 1 tsp zeera. Pour over daal. Done.

Make sure the daal is creamy in texture. It will be spicy and tastes awesome with buttered naans.

Trust me, I can’t make it as well as the dude himself. I just can’t get it.
