Like national medals, national titles are also dirt cheap these days. While some added to the value of the titles by being their recipients, some were merely lucky to get them. In a country where a leader is billed as shaheed and his workers are reported as killed, there isn’t much to read into titles bestowed on unscrupulous political grounds, but still the practice which has become a fashion, is taking sheen out of national titles, their values and their meanings.
