I agree. Losing love scars a person beyond measure, but it also teaches them that they have the strength to withstand the trials and tribulations of life and keep moving forward.

Let me explain. That Tennyson dude didn’t know what he was talking about. He presumed that you only love once, and that one time you either keep or or lose it. Culturally we are made to think that romantic love ( which is what he is talking about here ) is the best kind of love and it happens only once in a life. Laila+Majnu, Heer+Ranjha, Romeo+Juliet, Sohni+Mahiwal etc. Reality is, you might fall in love more than once. Madonna+Beatty, Madonna+Penn, Madonna+Richie, Demi+Willis, Demi+Kutchner, Cruise+Kidman, Cruise+Scientology. Sometimes you lose it and sometimes you keep it. So the answer is, both. But like Humpherdinck crooned, “The last one will last forever…”

Every painful experience comes with lessons that help us grow… But we realize that later on. Nevertheless a part of you might still wish that you had never experienced that pain to begin with.
It’s an idealistic quote..as many of them tend to be. I’d rather end up with the person than to lose them and experience the pain that comes with it…I’d then wish it hadn’t taken place. At the moment …I agree with s_punk…ignorance can be bliss.

Agreed, sometimes it feels awful that I have not loved anyone and no one has loved me. Granted it keeps life simple but there are days when you think what is the purpose of life, just eat, sleep and work?
Those who have loved and lost will say ‘ignorance is a bliss’ but for others not having love can be painful.

Its better to have loved and lost…appreciation for what life gives you later is never a bad thing.
I agree - there is heartbreak and the pain can be unreal.
But I also know that I value the great things in my life even more now and am eternally grateful for them.
