tired of being hungry and weight gain

so, i am 27 weeks plus. and i feel hungry all the time.

i has breakfast at around 10 - 2 slices of bread with omelette, one cup tea, one banana.

then i had to stop myself from eating till 12 ( just took water), and at 12, i ate a bowl full of barley porridge with milk.

and now its 1:00 and i am hungry again. I am fed up of eating and eating. It cant be that my baby is eating all that, my body is just acting strange.

other problem i have with eating so much is that i gained a total of 15 KGs (33 pounds) in 27 weeks, which my doctor is saying a bit more than i should have gained. and i still have 2 more months to go, so i am really worried how much will i gain til the end. As i have a family history of diabetes, so i am really concerned, so far my glucose levels are fine.

i am trying to make healthy food choices so far ( after being an eat-all-you-want pregnant lady for 2 months :frowning: sadly). But the problem is i stay hungry all the time. I take water in between to satisfy the non-sense hunger needs even after a proper meal. I cant concentrate on studies or even in namaz i think of daal chawal, corn flakes :frowning:

so please tell me what other low calories diet i can include in my daily in-take, which doesnt make me put on too much weight and which will also satisfy my never-ending hunger.

i take apple, banana, pears in between meals, i take milk 2-3 times, sometimes with porridge or cornflakes.

now i am thinking of buying canned corn, to take them as they are low on calories ( just searched).

please add any low calorie FOOOOOOD if you have any.

Re: tired of being hungry and weight gain

Canned corn and chick peas too, are low in calories. But do some search on chick peas anyway, since I am not sure how much low in calories they really are. I guess black chick peas are mower in calories. Why havent you added salads into your meals as yet? or in between? They can easily cover the hunger spaces and obviously are low in calories. Break your main meals into shorter meals and you can make up for the loss in your in between times. Your first preference should be eating healthy but ofcourse you cannot just be on the weight put on spree crazily. So check if there is anything which is only adding to your fats. Fats are good near the end months for an easy labor but that must not mean mere accumulation of it sitting on your body anywhere. I think you will have to be a little careful about your milk intake too. twice a milk should be enough if you are already tending towards weight gain.

your thread was funny btw, and this is just every pregger's story. Hunger, fatigue, etc :D

tired of being hungry and weight gain

Whenever its not your 'meal time' and you want to eat, have a snack. Make yourself a salad or have a piece of fruit or dried fruit (raisons, dried mango, apricots, pineapple etc) - they are super yummy too!!

I don't think you need to have 2-3 glasses of milk a day, but if you do want to drink that much switch to low fat milk. It has all the calcium and goodness that you and your baby needs but without the added fat! It won't affect the health of your baby.

Have smaller portions. If your not satisfied after your meal fill up on salad.

Keep up with your water intake, it should help calm your hunger pangs down.

Do you exercise? I think exercise is so important especially when your pregnant! It will prevent weight gain and will actually make labour easier for you, inshallah.

Keep yourself busy! If you don't have much to do, our minds do tend to wander and make us think we want food. I'm not saying what your feeling is not true but sometimes when we're bored we eat - I do that all the time and I'm not even pregnant lol!

I think this should help prevent further weight gain, inshallah

Good luck with your pregnancy :)

Re: tired of being hungry and weight gain

hmm i do exercise but its like for 10 min at a time and then 10 min in the evening, i try to walk, which again i have to break into 2 small intervals of 15 min. as i get tired easily.

rest i do some of the house work, help MIL while cooking, etc

right now, i am trying to stay away from eating anything, so i am munching on kalay channay ( i hope its low on calories) because i am waiting for my dinner time sigh

salads sound good but its just that i want to eat :( if i dont eat like for more than 1.5 hours, my stomach starts hurting... like its been empty for hours.... it upsets me because at this stage i am kind of tired of thinking what to eat all day, getting embarrassed living with inlaws :S goddd i feel so ashamed when i fill a plate of fruits and stuff to take to my room :S but i just cant help it

trying to take water every now and then.
Hugs and thx :)

Re: tired of being hungry and weight gain

try snacking on nuts, carrots, celery, raisins, apple, etc

Re: tired of being hungry and weight gain

and why are you feeling, get over it, this is normal.

Re: tired of being hungry and weight gain

don't be embarrassed at all.....this is quite normal.
kalay chanay are actually quite good for you....they are high in protein and low on calories.

Re: tired of being hungry and weight gain

ok so i get kalay chanay (the dry ones, which are found at the dry fruit shop) in my list too. thx muzna

and thx for the suggestions lusi :) will try them abhi say :D

Re: tired of being hungry and weight gain

when people are looking at you?? i don't get it. you're very pregnant. of course you're hungry all the time, and maybe you're even hungrier because you're not filling up because you're afraid of gaining weight. don't do that to yourself, or your baby. the weight will come off after the baby is born- don't eat everything in sight, and its admirable that you want to eat healthy- but don't deprive yourself of food either. now is when the baby will put on the most weight and really fill out. eat, woman, eat! eat when you are hungry and damn everyone else. wtf. you're growing ANOTHER HUMAN inside you. both of you need the energy.

Re: tired of being hungry and weight gain

Aww, its ok. You should eat if you feel hungry, don't worry too much about the weight. as others said, it will come off later. Just try to chew on some healthy stuff and not just junk food / high calorie stuff . when i get too hungry and its not meal time yet, i eat kellogs cereal with fruit. it seems to work.

Re: tired of being hungry and weight gain

Same problem as me .. I dislike eating so much .. but feel hungry all the freaking time .. recently on one of my visits to the midwife i was told baby is growing two weeks ahead of time .. that sort of told me that i am unnecessarily eating on stuff and putting on weight which is not required .. coz Alhumdullillah baby is fine and healthy .. I am doing ok as well energy wise …

So now i have cut down on carbs and increased salads .. Carrots and cucumbers are my best friend these days .. also any water based fruit/vegies .. like water melon gives that feeling of being full but isnt high on calorie .. you might wanna try that .. Also I have noticed that the more I eat the hungrier i feel .. so now I dont snub myself on eating at meal times .. but I am controlling my urge to snack all the time .. I am eating smaller portions of carbs and bigger portions of water based fruits and vegies .. I think that is helping..

One other thing, if you feel the craving to eat something, just take a bite or two rather then the whole thing.. I feel, that too helps stop thinking about food :cb: for example, I keep craving chocolate and icecream these days , to the extent that I even wake up in the middle of the night, thinking of them … so now I take a little bite or two just to kill the craving and leave the rest of it for later .. thats helped me control craving too ..

PS : before applying any of this please ensure you check with your doctor regards the development of your baby.. I have been told, sometimes during pregnancy baby actively takes nourishment while mother is lacking it .. in other cases mother may start putting on unnecessary weight while the baby may not be taking as much nourishment as it should be .. so its important what ever diet decisions you take , you take them after keeping in mind your baby’s development and nourishment.

Re: tired of being hungry and weight gain

CB and SGC are right....you should not be depriving yourself in worry of how you will look later on.

If you feel that you are craving harmful foods then prepare for your cravings......pre-package/pre-pack those sinful foods into smaller portions. If you are craving chocolate then make sure that you have handy some pre-divided pieces.....or those 100 calorie bars......so that you don't end up eating a full bar.

You are going to have cravings. You are going to be famished.
Be prepared and handle the situation in a smart way.

Re: tired of being hungry and weight gain

Re: tired of being hungry and weight gain

haey mein mar gaey.... the cravings and hunger pangs will still be there even after the delivery????

jazakAllah for all the inputs, love to all.

i have soooo much coming up right after the baby, my brother's wedding inshAllah, after 1 month of delivery( he's dying to get married lol)

and then after 1.5 months i have to go to another country to present my research progress with the baby... and i just keep praying Allah Tallah please make things easy for me amin amin

its not the weight gain that i am worried about ( though i have a very skinny-young-looking husband :S and i dont even care when he makes fun of me getting big and big). Its just that i am worried about the diabetic factor in my family, the doctor said the baby has good growth and everything is fine, but i am just too worried because i read babies grown to a diabetic mother are naturally fat and have problems :( i'm not diabetic but have PCOS and weight gain in pregnancy is terrifying me at the moment ( previously i was under-to-normal weight)

i dont want my baby to ever face any problem because of me, its terrifying you know.

akmoti: keep a space for me too in 60 day weightloss thread :D gonna join soon IA

Re: tired of being hungry and weight gain

please stop using the word fat in a negative light when it comes to babies. babies are supposed to be chunky; its the law. :p ever kiss one of those delicious wrists or squeeze a chicken tikka thigh?

and so long as you don't have gestational diabetes, you and your baby are doing fine. in fact, even with gd, you are put on a strict diet and your baby would still be fine. don't stress unnecessarily. just focus on growing a healthy child. remember, what you are feeling, he/she is feeling just as strongly what with being inside you and all- think happy thoughts and be positive. look forward to having this baby and then iA being able to breastfeed and enjoying all the others bits and bobs that go along with motherhood. there is SO much to look forward to!

During my 1st pregnancy I've been eating a lot and obviously I gained a lots of weight. Now during my second I barely eat... But still I'm fat and big... A lots of people say to me that I'm not the Iksa anymore that I used to be...all coz of being fat... But I don't care and say everything will be fine after my delivery....sometimes I get tired of myself coz nothing fits me....or suits me... But further I do get the advice to eat more and better.... So if you have cravings; just eat what you want...
