Tire without air!

What’s the biggest problem with tires? Yes, going flat.
Michelin, one of world’s largest tire manufacturer, is working on a tire that will not have air in it. Now that will be revolutionary.

It’s called Tweel.

Re: Tire without air!

you mean Michelin, the Fat guy?

Although I think the main idea is old, as there are tubeless tires already in business.

Re: Tire without air!

Thanks for the pics.
Tubeless tires still work on air. Plus they also go flat.

I think the magic is in spokes made of polyurethane.

hmmm

Re: Tire without air!

wondering about the impact on aerodynamic characteristics of the car..

Re: Tire without air!

^ That may be one of the reasons Michelin says that this design is currently available for low-speed applications only.

But if you are talking air passing between the spokes, then they can simply cover the wheel?!

I think the word tubeless was used incorrectly in the place of run flat tires

yup, they would have to do something like that unless they can manage the spokes in a way that it does not have a negative impact on the aerodynamics of the car as a whole

Re: Tire without air!

Tweel’s the deal! I would call it a non-Pneumatic tire (not tubeless)…
