Tiramisu - can you really get drunk off of it?

I love this stuff but since there’s rum in it I don’t eat it.

However, someone I know stated she knew something wasn’t right about tiramisu all along because as soon as she’d have it she’d feel giddy and drunk.

:konfused:

Is that even possible considering how much is actually in there?

And is it alright to have food that had alcohol in it but it was cooked off?

Re: Tiramisu - can you really get drunk off of it?

LOL no you can’t get drunk off of tiramisu :cb:

There is only a couple of tablespoons so that won’t do much.

Personally, I don’t eat food which had alcohol in it and was cooked off…I read somewhere that no matter how much you cook it off there is always some percentage of alcohol left, just doesn’t feel right.

Makes it hard to eat out though, almost all of the seafood options A: have some sort of wine sauce or B: consist of beer battered fish

Reha, I took a pro bakery class and the alcohol in tiramisu doesn’t get cooked off. I got it in college from a friend who owned a restaurant and he got me like the whole tray that I gobbled down alone and no the alcohol was not enough to get you drunk. BTW this was before I knew what went into tiramisu or that Italian cooking was all about the wines.

Abh I make it at home from the following recipe and it tastes better than what you get outside.

^That's why I don't ask too many questions when the food arrives, I just eat it and hope for the best. I'm going to Hell, aren't I.

Reha, your friend's taking the piss. I had a fat slice the other day and to my utter disappointment I was still coherent afterwards.

Re: Tiramisu - can you really get drunk off of it?

I had a feeling she was BSing! That does not sound possible!

Re: Tiramisu - can you really get drunk off of it?

depends. did her tiramisu arrive in a bottle?

Reha maybe she ate a tray full of tiramisu. :-)

Re: Tiramisu - can you really get drunk off of it?

LOL!

Though you don’t have to ask any questions…it pretty much says it all in the menu :hehe:

Re: Tiramisu - can you really get drunk off of it?

This friend is clearly smoking crack, a spoonful of marsala wine or any cooking wine can't possibly make anyone drunk
