Ok let me explain. Tipu Sultan was the muslim king of Mysore(former Karnataka). Official history states that he was a freedom fighter who fought against the British.
From other sources it is mentioned that he was involved in destroying temples and converting people enmass. The local hindu population always had a grudge against Tipu for his atrocities.
Fast forward to present.. The present Chief minister of Karnataka decided to celebrate his birth anniversary which enraged certain sections of the Hindu society. During a protest march, one local hindu leader was killed due to stone throwing by Muslims. This has further aggravated the situation.

I was puzzled myself when Kohli put the Saffies in to bat after winning the toss in Chinnaswamy stadium. But it turned out to be a good decision.
Some protests broke out, as there are plans to rename the stadium as Tippu Sultan stadium.
