hi folks,
working with 10th grade and college students, an observation inspired me to write this.
younger people may even be able to get some sound leads off of this. :>
we all know it, that in education and in career advancement, constant planning & nice track record is very essential.
however, what do u do when somebody in not there yet or got by the side way for whatever reason - lack of interest, no proper guidance, bad schooling, negative work experiences.. etc.
& all of a sudden that person needs to snap out of a laid back routine of passivism and get on a roll.
the first step is to make use of what good you have in your education and on your resume
choose the best method of approaching a new college program/ university education - along the way , make wise decisions, about the economics and the time input for that undertaking.
then, once, u have obtained the degree u wanted, u ideally look for a position in the work force, which helps you apply the knowledge which you received in your education. u get licenses or certifications.
& since education is a privilege, u aim at being at least B+ if not straight A.
good recommendations.
nice internship experiences.
writing and scholarship in your field.
participating and winning awards of competitions and presenting at conferences - your original and collaborated research papers.
all go hand in hand with on the job success
and the bait is good relations with every body - from mentors to bosses, all the way to class mates, friends, and colleagues.
so how do u do this between 16 and 30 years of age?
u enter a good school
u go to school to study and get good grades in all subjects math through arts and language
u opt for a major to enter college in order to do ur B.Sc. or B.A. in that field.
u ideally should do apprentice work or internship or if paid assistant ship is available at that level, then avail that early work experience.
finally, u exit the college with a good academic standing degree, & right away u want to enter the work force.
it is always good to have skills in ur resume which can lan u on ‘related’ jobs.
for instance,
a resident doctor can be a medical researcher
a psychologist in training can be a behavioral statistician
a computer graphics major can have a marketing minors and work in media advertisements or animation
a lawyer can be working in a social work setting for family courts cases
versus working for corporate law
so on and so forth in other fields as well.
while u are on your job, an important thing is to always have a back up work plan to keep a steady pay coming to u and also to feel that u have more liberty to create ur own schedule and work in the most productive manner.
u stay out trouble and someone else’s’ sauce’s way! meaning u remain cool
and insuperable.
& i recently learnt that u have to tame ur aggressiveness.
that goes for other areas of personal lives and relations as well.
but what gets reflected in educational institutes and at work, also becomes obvious in the personal dealings of the person.
having a consistent attitude helps.
sometimes, u do things on purpose, the hard way to ensure that things are going according to ur plans in academic accomplishments and in ur career choice & that u are considered insuperable
due to ur dedication and hard work, clarity of purpose in ur mind for all that u do.
good luck!
anybody wants too share their thoughts and advice or tips.
please do so.
