I would really like to know how you guys personally landed your first job and some tips on getting an internships?
Would you suggest getting any internship or rather profiling a company that you would maybe want to work with.Any tips on researching the companies too as with the usual web searches you dont get any details of the companies except of getting their official websites etc.
Other thing is how early is too early to get an internship?
One thing I heard from the career counselor was that its better to start off anywhere and then apply for the internal jobs that you may want. It still seems unfair to me.

th best way to get an internship is to first know which field you want to work in?
you can work a few hours on an internship, related to your major at a good organization.
to profile with an organization in your field of study, you should have your resume on career net of some kind of your own coll./univ.
or take your resume to the students' career dept. at your coll or univ.
send it out with a nice cover letter, to diff org where you want to apply for internship.
periodically, attend career fairs and see if the organizations that are looking for FT or PT positions, are also able to give internships to students still in coll.
regarding what the counselor said, i dont agree necessarily that you should settle for ANY internship.
instead, you ought to look at the best options you have. a nie place to go to work as an intern, something more to do than clerical filing or phone answering or even simply shadowing professional people, with that you should consider a workable or flexible schedule that you can manage with your coll/univ work, a nice easy commute, and possibly a paid internship.
