I need as many tips as you all can think of on baby proofing my house .. I am done running after my 9 month old ! he’s growing MA and dont want to be running around stopping him from this or that all the freaking time ! its generating so much negative energy around him .. so please help me with tips ..
i tried , but he hates being confined and cries non stop .. not interested in toys .. wants to explore bigger things , takes him a moment to explore his toy and then lets go of it .. loves walking around the house freely .. so i want to baby proof the house now ..
Get baby gates for your stairs, put all breakable things up high and beyond his reach, cover electrical outlets and hide or tie up wires. Get those corner protector things for your tables so he doesn’t run into them, and be prepared to still run after him as he discovers new things. Welcome to parenthood! Ain’t it grand?
Absolutely right , i am doing same. Somegroovychick
My baby is also of 9 month and hv nt interest in toys. Hv craze to walk. And yh likes to watch comercial on tv.
All time i am runninw after him. My hubby was sayng yh right its mother who can take care of baby.
Today i went to doc, a lady ws sayng me dnt let baby too much walk , walkng can affect on legs. Isnt right?
we had this for our TV table in family room because that’s where he spent most of his time and when he started walking, he used to hold on to the table so it needed to be protected at all sides.. Toddler Table Edge Shield by OFNA - buybuyBaby.com
we had something similar for kitchen cabients because again, he used to crawl and walk holding the kitchen cabinets.. I did leave one cabinet with a few pots and pans and wooden spoons for him to play with though.
Other than that electrical covers, baby gates if there are stairs or restricted area tat you dont have him access is what you need. We used baby gates but at 9 months, he was climbing it so we just started to keep him away from the area and it worked.
Thanks guys , how old is a baby usually before they start recognizing what areas are No Go zones? and how do you teach them not to go to the No Go zones?
We are in an apartment, I keep all the bedroom and bathroom doors closed all the time. The only area he can play in our living room and kitchen. B/w9-11 months I would gate half of the kitchen as well, there were only 2 cabinets open for him, one has his stacking cups and milk bottles, the other had some pot pans and some wooden/plastic cooking utensils. All the electric outlets were covered. We don’t have any decorations where he can reach. We have 3-4 different kinds of pushing toys for him, along with other toys that are in bins. 2-3 small stools/ chawkees for him to carry and sit. If there was something that he can not touch like a pedestal fan, I was/am very firm with him if he tries to touch. He now understands that he can only open other kitchen cabinets. Again, I was/am very firm at what cabinets he can open. You can put safety looks on the cabinet. We are in an apartment and were not allowed to drill holes on the cabinet so we had to just train him.
