how can red pepper reduce cough? In my case, it actually triggers cough!

Actually it just said that the substance found in cough syrups is also found in red pepper.

If i am not wrong then you are mixing red chilli with red pepper (shimla mirch I think) :konfused:

Well you are quite right in that respect … If you try to inhale dry red chilli pepper powder, it will cause non-stop sneezing and cough. Dont try this at home :nono1:

I read somewhere that red pepper has many time more vitamin C than lemon.

shimla mirch would be bell pepper.. red pepper is lal mirch! Other than the powder and the crushed one, I have seen dry red peppers too but still how are you supposed to eat them to recover cough?

Peppers are a great source of vitamin C. All kinds of peppers. You can eat green peppers (shimla mirch, capsicum, bell pepper) and it's sisters the red, yellow and orange bell peppers in salads or as a cooked sabzi, or stir frys.

Yes, even teekhi mirchaiN have vitamin C. So for someone like me, that's an excellent source, but for others, try the bell pepper family.

Apperently the chart is not suggesting any remedies for illness. Rather it is prejecting fruits and vegies which help strengthen the imunity within the body.

If someone is experiencing an asthama attack then red onion wont be of any help at that time. Similarly, If a patient is feeling symptoms of a stroke then tea would be the last thing any medical practitioner would suggest :chai:

It is a known fact that vitamin C helps builing body’s immune system. and vitamin D makes bones stronger. Now it is my personal experience that few years ago I used to get sick with flu and cold often. But steady increase in consumption of fruits , green chillies and citrus fruits has help my body alot and now i experience that sort of illness less frequently.

By the grace of Allah, in this part of the world we get to eat so much variety of very tastey fruits all years round that it is hard to resist the temptation :mash:
