Hello all
My friend is going to leave her 11 months old daughter with me tomorrow evening for 3-5 hours. She will be leaving her essentials like toys and food with me. I need suggestion and tips on how to engage her in different activities. Also i am thinking of playing something of her interest on TV (her mommy has permitted). May be Dora or Sesame Street? uff i dont know lol

3-5 hour nap! But maybe you can play some
Sorta ABC songs.. I use to do that with my 8 month old nephew and he was more into that than any other cartoons. Other than that, we just play peekaboo! For some reason he can play that for hours and never get bored 
you will need to feed him, change, maybe nap and all that will keep you busy. Time will fly by if the baby is not cranky … Good luck

It is not hard to keep an 11 month old entertained.Trust me on that…
Is she going to take a nap between those hours?If so that would be nice.
You can play with her.Her mom will bring some toys so those can be used.If you need anything else use some plastic bowls and spoons from the kitchen.A couple of plastic cups can be used as blocks and played with.
Can you ask the mom to bring some books…?..You can read to her.Not sure if it will be possible for you but you could get some books from the local library too.A variety of books etc keeps them entertained for quite a while.
Maybe sing nursery rhymes with hand gestures…like twinkle twinkle little star,itsy bitsy spider,wheels on the bus(has always been my daughter’s favorite..!) etc…
A ball is an all time favorite toy,almost at every age from what I have experienced..!
Regarding TV,yeah maybe.If the mom is ok you can even ask her what the kid likes to watch.As far as I recall my daughter was not that interested in TV at that age.
Is the baby walking yet…??..If not she must be crawling or cruising for sure.Make them come to you or some interesting object.They love to do that.

Just a word of advice.I am sure you know this already,but in a house with no young kids,it is very easy to not pay attention to minor things which can become a child safety hazard.Like electric outlets,strings (what do you call them..??) attached to curtains or blinds which are too long,or anything which can be a choking hazard and easily accessible for a baby who is crawling or on the floor .Kids her age are inquisitive and love getting into things they are not supposed to.

Chips thanks for the reminder. We will baby proof the living room tomorrow before she comes IA. Good thing is hubby will be home too so we will make sure that she is never left alone or unattended!

Trust me, babies sleep in my lap so immediately… I would make him sleep

^ lucky you!!.. Its like next to impossible for me to put them to sleep.. I’d just fall asleep before they would :S … sorry no input from me..
