Tipping

What do you think is better;

The individual who serves you gets the tip OR All the tips are collected and distributed evenly among the serving staff?

I think the first one is the better option because that perhaps gives better initiative to the helper to give better service to the customer. In the latter one, everyone will get equal amount of tip whether they served better than the other or not.

What are your thoughts?

Hmmm.

Re: Tipping

Yea i think the first one is better as well when most people tip someone they tip that person that is serving them not the entire place so if someone gets a bigger tip than someone else i don't think it's fair for it to be divided up so everyone can get a part of it

The person getting the tip worked for it so therefore should have it

Re: Tipping

first one is definitely better. I also make it a point to tip chowkidars/parking valets.

Re: Tipping

First one.

Re: Tipping

one who serves....

Re: Tipping

So why do some places have the latter rule in action. Hmmm.

Re: Tipping

Maybe because they're not paying the staff enough, so tips form a significant part of the income and they want everybody to get the same. Or at places like coffee shops where you wouldn't exactly hand a tip to the attendant you would have to drop it in a jar on the counter.

Re: Tipping

Boycott the one which practice the second thingy magingy.
