like fruitflies but brownish…where do they come from and why? I noticed a few of them in my kitchen area which is well ventilated, has no produce lying outside the refrigerator, I clean the countertops several times a day with a good kitchen cleaner, there’s no smell or residue anywhere that i can see…could it be that they are attracted to a jasmine plant I have on the window sill?

How to get rid of them :bummer:?

even i have noticed them in my kitchen..i thought they came when we got fruits from market...although dont know how to get rid of them

I had something like that in my kitchen for a while...Dunno where they came from..I think with some vegetable/fruit maybe...

I tried diff. sprays but didn't work..they were mostly in the cabinet area...so at last I got this powder form insect killer and thankfully the are extinct now.Try it, maybe it'll work for you.

Thanks, I noticed they are very few today. But I will get that insect killer.

niks do you keep fruit out?

I avoid putting out food/fruit...and any leftover in the kitchen sink...or the table.

Chanda, no all my fruit is in the fridge. I only have bananas outside but i have no bananas this week. Nothing leftover either.

its the bananas! i had the same problem until i started covering them up...or you can put them in the fridge...

Bananas are notorious for attracting these fruit fly thingies…
and I have seen them coming on onions too…if you keep them in a cart or something in the kitchen that might be another reason…
I once read this and told another friend who was having the same issue and I think she tried the ‘bowl trap’ thing and it worked for her.I haven’t tried it myself though,just thought I’d share…:slight_smile:

so yeah, i did buy these sweet small bananas the week before...those may have attracted the monsters.

I have everything cleaned out now. thanks for the link.

Dont bananas go brown very fast if you keep them in the fridge
