Hope someone can help me - I just went to goond some atta and found some teeny tiny bugs in the atta as I was goonding it… Like little ants or tiny beetles. No idea what these are or where they came from. My house is pretty clean. I store the atta in a bucket with a lid, although I dont think it’s airtight. I used to make chapatti regularly so we’d get through atta quite quick. Have not made chappati so much recently though so maybe the atta is about 5-6 months old. Anyone have any idea what these things are and where they came from? My mum reckons I should just sift the atta and use it, but I’m quite grossed out by the whole thing so was thinking to chuck it out and buy a smaller bag next time!
Re: Tiny bugs in my atta.. yuk!
They are flour beetles. Probably confused given their size.
They are hellish to get rid of if they spread. It’s unlikely they came from your house, sometimes aata or rice will have them and then they just spread.
Throw the atta out and go through everything else you have and make sure they haven’t spread - rice, daal, any other stored dry stuff. If they have then you need to get everything out and clean your cupboards making sure you get into all the crevices.
Try not to keep anything stored for too long as this is usually an inevitable outcome. My mum tried storing stuff in airtight containers but still somehow they would appear inside if the stuff was stored for a while.

if your cupboards have become infested, you may have to call professional pest control people! :D
Re: Tiny bugs in my atta.. yuk!
your atta is very old. Throw it all away.
