Occasionally I have felt tingling and pain in my right hand’s middle 3 fingers.. but the pain is much more intense and persistent now. Since the last 2 weeks, it hurts like crazy especially while touching paper, folders, writing with pen, etc at work. I told my husband about it tonight and he said it’s carpal tunnel syndrome (sp?). I always assumed CTS had more to do with wrist issues but he said what I am describing sounds like the symptoms of the initial stages, and that I need to get a splint =( I have absolutely zero time to go to the doctor because of my busy schedule so whatever my inhouse doctor says, I have to believe it
(who I don’t trust so much btw) Anyone ever had this issue? Any advice?
Do you use the computer a lot? Have you ever felt numbness in your fingers?
Try resting your hands and fingers every 10-15 mins for a few mins and do some hand & finger exercise.
Look for a massage therapist that is trained in finding and treating trigger points. Still I think its best to get it checked by a Doctor.
Hope you feel better asap. :)
Re: Tingling and pain in fingers..
you should definitely get an appointment with a doctor request a nerve conduction test. In the meanwhile use a splint ..it will ease the pain, also if you are typing a lot get an ergonomic keyboard.
Re: Tingling and pain in fingers..
sometimes some type of pains r good n useful !!!
dont worry,, just wait
Re: Tingling and pain in fingers..
I think you may have pinched the ulna nerve… as tingling in fingers is condusive to that… ![]()
Go to your doc, they will prescribe maybe an NSAID.
Re: Tingling and pain in fingers..
very good advice already given
i can give u the reason behind it
all ppl in long distance relationships suffer from such symptoms. that and the ability to type 4000 words a sec

Re: Tingling and pain in fingers..
^:omg:
thanks guys.. im thinking of getting the splint.. but from where?
Re: Tingling and pain in fingers..
Pareezay, your injury is amongst those that are most commonly misdiagnosed... people think that because they have pain in the wrist/hand area, it must be CPT, but it equally could be a inpingement of the ulna nerve, cubital tunnel syndrome, some form of thyroidism, arthiritis or even tingling/numbness due to obesity (i'm not implying you are ;))
I really don't think you have CTS.... you need to go to the doc and they'll do some quick tests on you..... and provide you with topical or oral medicine to reduce the inflammation in the affected area... no need for a splint.......yet :)
For the meantime, i would suggest you take an analagesic obtained over the counter, such as oral Ibuprofen, or a topical cream such as Diclofenac, giving that you're not allergic to it. :)
Swelling in the wrist can cause nerves to be pressed which will lead to pain in the fingures. Go to a doctor and do wrist exercises. They usually fix it up real fast.
Re: Tingling and pain in fingers..
Thanks Maroush!
Iori, I don't have swelling in my wrists.
Re: Tingling and pain in fingers..
Pareezay I get this sometimes as well. About 2-3 times a year lasting for a few days to a week. I got it checked out...ran some xrays and it wasnt CTS. I also had tests done that eliminated the possibility of arthiritis. Til this day doctors have not been able to give me a clear answer as to what is causing it. However there does tend to be some swelling at times....albeit very slight.
Doctor asked me to keep a journal next time so that I can figure out when it happens and what i was doing around the time that it happened. He often asks me if i cook a lot or type a lot. I do type quite a bit and I lift weights...so this could be causing it. Are you doing anything strenuous that could be causing this as well?
if you hear anything further from the doc...plz let me know. I am interested in finding out what he has to say about it. thanks
Re: Tingling and pain in fingers..
^ It may just be golfers or tennis elbow…
these things are very hard to diagnose… anti inflammatories are your best solution to alleviating the pain ![]()
Re: Tingling and pain in fingers..
^I say you open your own clinic on GS, Dr. Maroush, pain specialist!!
A.E- My mom's a doctor too and she told me it's definitely C.T.S. She showed me some hand exercises to do and honestly, after doing it for a couple of hours, my fingers feel much better. I have been told to stay away from alot of typing though.
Re: Tingling and pain in fingers..
It does sound like CTS.
Ulnar nerve affects the little finger mainly so its not that to people who said that.
Anyways the doc said its CTS so yeah, anyway some anti inflammatories might help.
You preggers by any chance?
Re: Tingling and pain in fingers..
No Im not pregnant or Im sure I would have had bigger issues than fingers hurting, haha.
Re: Tingling and pain in fingers..
do Phalen’s test and Tinnel’s sign to see whether it’s CTS
