Guys please, the only reason Mr Modi is Time’s person of the year, is because the voting method. Facebook was one of the ways to cast vote. Leading nation on Facebook is USA with 152 million users (out of which, 25% must be Indians). Second leading is India with 109 million users. That means about 147 million potential voters for modi. Surprisingly, Modi got about 800,000 votes which is not even 1% of that Facebook vote bank.
Time’s person of the year is really not an achievement contest, but a popularity contest. 0.8 million Indians decided to vote for him because at least he was an Indian, and a known one. That was his key qualification.
Exactly ! He wasn’t even a finalist in the official list. What he won was a popular vote which was obviously skewed by the large number of Indians “influenced” by him
