Why are girls STILL wearing short anarkalis and the pink/blue variation contrast like it’s 2005?
Re: Times have a-changed, so should your wardrobe.
- because not everyone has the budget or time to keep buying new clothes cz the fashions change every second day. and 2. they like the color combo.
Because shops are still selling them?
Re: Times have a-changed, so should your wardrobe.
I dont think it costs extravagantly to dye the clothes in different colours and short anarkalis are sold at equivalent prices to long anarkalis, a-line dresses and party saris... so I don't think price is the issue. People liked curtains (hairstyle) at one point, but that point ended because, let's face it, it wasn't a good look.
Re: Times have a-changed, so should your wardrobe.
I'm sure the "shops" still "sell" the curtains cut. ANd fashion changes a season, which, if I recall, is 4 times a year. Wow, my post struck a chord.
Re: Times have a-changed, so should your wardrobe.
Erm I meant that they must have been bought in that time period, not that they bought it recently..
and maybe in pak it doesn't cost much, but if an outfit is pretty nice on its own why would I ruin it by getting it dyed??
Re: Times have a-changed, so should your wardrobe.
As much as magazines / the media / the world will tell you otherwise, nobody HAS to follow fashion trends..

maybe you should get off your high horse
Re: Times have a-changed, so should your wardrobe.
it's a free world isn't it !
Re: Times have a-changed, so should your wardrobe.
@Princess121 totally agree fads should be resisted, individuality is far more attractive than being part of the herd; my mentioning of fashion seasons was in response to : "cz the fashions change every second day". With regards to my post in the first place, certain looks are apt for a certain time, because that's when they look good, some looks are timeless (sounding like a Tiffanys ad now) and some looks are replicated from the past, because they look damn good when revamped. Pink and Blue contrast is not a good look, it's not timeless like a red/maroon lehnga.
Re: Times have a-changed, so should your wardrobe.
@Sara516 confrontational much.
Re: Times have a-changed, so should your wardrobe.
Hmm.. but that's just so subjective.. you may think pink and blue is not a good look.. but it's reminded me of at least two outfits that I have which are both lovely and have received many compliments for.. What you might think is timeless might be someone else's nightmare..
Personally I don't like short anarkalis very much, and didn't wear them even when they were 'in'. So the point is I disagree with your thread title.. Times may well have changed, but I can change my wardrobe as I wish :)
Re: Times have a-changed, so should your wardrobe.
Honestly would love to see your outfits and have a chance to change my opinion, or even some outfits from the net. Timelessness, isn't subjective, it literally means, stands the test of time, i.e. is replicated over a vast timespan. But yeah, the title is actually a play on a Bob Dylan song, so probably is snotty :)
Re: Times have a-changed, so should your wardrobe.
I think if you look at things with a fashion conscience eye then your post makes sense. But I guess when people get caught up in the fashion crazy world, it tends to be forgotten that these are just clothes. Yes, I said just, lol. There are more important things in life. So if someone wants to wear something that is old fashioned to others, or if they want to cut their hair like curtains or whatever.. it's up to them! You can't really tell them to change and get with the times (even though this is exactly what fashion presenters/ magazines love doing) because it's their choice how to dress
Re: Times have a-changed, so should your wardrobe.
@Halima15 judgmental much?
Re: Times have a-changed, so should your wardrobe.
It is most definitely subjective, because it is an opinion, whether held by an individual or by the masses.
Re: Times have a-changed, so should your wardrobe.
@Sara516, just not letting go of this huh? You're really making me feel important, and this horse is just getting higher. Check, check; this is a public forum, yes? Why so serious?
Knock knock.
Re: Times have a-changed, so should your wardrobe.
Yes and I replied to your topic, you had some issue wiht it, oh well.
Re: Times have a-changed, so should your wardrobe.
Ok seriously. Both of you grow up.
Re: Times have a-changed, so should your wardrobe.
@Princess121, appreciate your posts, yeah, at the end of it all, clothes are JUST clothes. I just can't let go of my loathing of those two particular desi trends! I will wait (possibly for a long time) for their near "extinction" and then Callooh! Callay! here when they aghast me no longer.
