timeline for invites?

When is the appropriate time to send out invitations? I’ve been at odds with my parents because they think you only send it out a month in advance and its driving me nuts because they are delaying the production of the invitations for this reason. thats definitely not the case in the U.S. as far as i know, people send out invites at least 2-3 months in advance i would think.

Re: timeline for invites?

in pakistan i think even a month before is too early...lol.
they like to have the card few days, max week before the wedding... May b we'r wayyyyyy to organised for these ppl.
when's the wedding....?

Re: timeline for invites?

ya, in the u.s. we usually send them 2-3 months in advance. but people know to keep the days free from word of mouth too

Re: timeline for invites?

and also u needa send it out a couple months before because people have to rsvp. lately i havent seen people sending rsvp cards with their invites, now its a trend for the couple to have an email address with both their names or even a website so people can rsvp through that. or just calling and letting the family know

Re: timeline for invites?

the other thing to consider is if you're having save-the-dates. if so, that also buys you time should you need time to get the wedding cards together, etc, because it basically warns your guests that your wedding is coming, that the date is set, and that they are invited! i'm sending my save-the-date cards out 6 months in advance only because i know some people will wonder if there invited or not, and i don't want them feeling awkward around me thinking they aren't invited when they really are, and vice versa!

Re: timeline for invites?

I had save the date cards.... gave them out as soon as the wedding date was fixed... this was about 6-8 months before the date but then after a month or so the wedding was postponed due to some reason....... And i was well annoyed.. but can't do anything about it! yet, still dunno when the wedding will be....
basically everything happens acc to ALLAH's will.... hope all goes fine.

Re: timeline for invites?

save the dates- 6 months to a year in advance
invitations- 2 months in advance

tell your parents to get going or they might not have (m)any guests!

Re: timeline for invites?

2-3 months ins advance, especially if its a summer shaadi since there are alot during the summer.... but i think it depends on the number of guests... and definitely do the save the dates..
