Consensus against any action will come from Punjab, but that I dont see that until Punjab itself is hit. Secondly TTP has already established itself in Eastern Afghanistan, any action in Waziristan would just push them across the borders. What can Pakistan do about the safe havens on our West? Considering US is pulling bulk of its forces and Afghanistan wants to pay Pakistan back dont you guys think that the time of NWA operation is over?

If PTI doesn't finish its alliance with JI it's quite strong chances that we could see PTI haqiqi or some else name before next elections. I don't think rather than IK other senior leaders of PTI such fan of JI.

DB what are your comments on these posts? Are you not supposed to give comments? Your post no# 2 is dumb and stupid. Post no #1 is against PTI chief IK regarding his rhetoric on stopping NATO supplies. What is the hard decision to be taken by N$?

I think Ali has some very valid points. Those who argue in favour of operation, have probably underestimated the enemy and overestimated Pakistan's military might to fight off a guerrilla war. All an operation could do is to get a certain area vacated. But this would open a new Pandora's box. Taliban have a very well-organized setup in Punjab and Karachi and could easily create further havens in Balochistan. Afghanistan on the other hand provides another option for setting up bases for operational purposes. It will convert the whole country into a extensive war theater which will be beyond our capability to manage.
If the path of talks lead up a blind alley, the only viable option would be target-killing of top leadership of the enemy, without picking good Taliban and dumping bad Taliban. Israel successfully managed to wipe out the top leadership of Hamas through target-killing and crippled the organization in Palestinian territory.

While I do not see any faction of PTI coming up, but the more PTI becomes fan of JI, the more electoral damages it may incur.

I am not say use PAF in afghanistan like the sixties, but why not Spec Ops if America / afghans have been rumored to have come in Pakistan?
