Since General Tauqir Zia took over the reigns of Pakistan Cricket affairs, the affairs have gone from bad to worse. Throughout the last three years, hence, we were been told that Pakistan was focusing all its efforts on the World Cup 2003. Yet, the dismal, if not shameful performance of the team makes us wonder what this preparation was about.Certainly, to anyone who understands cricket, it was obvious that there was no unity in our team this time. The long-term goal of peaking at the time of the world cup was used as an excuse for every dismal Pakistani performance in the past three years. I wonder what the excuse is now.We have hardly seen any new faces in the team over the past three years and even the old ones seem to be tired of the Martial Law treatment from the General. I think it is time to bring those responsible for Pakistani cricket team’s defeat in the World Cup 2003 to justice. This time the PCB chairman General Taqueer Zia, however, should not be given a chance to resign like he did after our defeat to the Aussies. Plus his phadas with cricket legends like Wasim Akram and Moin Khan have destroyed their careers . Rather this time he should be kicked out.One lesson we should learn from the present cricket mess as to the cricket should remain with cricketiers or those who understand cricket; not with those who claim to have played cricket at some school level which every Pakistani does.We agree with General Tauqir Zia that he has only better understanding of handling his troops but nothing about handling cricket affairs. He has badly failed to run the cricket affairs efficiently.
Enough is enough General sahib, u have proven ur worth . u have failed in ur attempts . Better leave cricket to the one who understands it and enjoy ur pension.
