**KARACHI: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement has submitted a petition under Article 295-C against Khursheed Shah, the opposition leader in the National Assembly, for using derogatory remarks against “Mohajirs”. Speaking at a press conference held at the Karachi Press Club on Tuesday, Dr Laila Parveen of the MQM said that the party members tried to register a case at the Brigade police station but the SHO there did not file the case.

“After remaining in the police station for two hours, when the SHO did not receive the application, we finally decided to file it in the court of law.”She demanded that action should be taken against the opposition leader who had passed “insulting remarks” against Mohajirs — a word respected in the entire Muslim world as the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) had also migrated to Madina from Makkah. “In this context of Islamic jurisprudence, one cannot dare to use foul language,” she said, also citing a Surah from the Holy Quran. She added that an application had been sent to the Sindh IGP through courier. She, however, failed to reply whether or not the case was filed under Section 12A. She added that the MQM lawyers under Barrister Said would plead the case.
