It’s about time the state developed guts to punish criminals like mumtaz qadri, as their weakness is emboldening other criminals. The acts that some people are committing in the name of the religion are defaming Islam instead of upholding it. The state should now make a decision to either give in to these miscreants or establish its writ.

^^^ Hang Mumtaz Qadri and government should be told that Pakistan is a Muslim country and could not have un-Islamic law like Blasphemy law, as Blasphemy law (what Pakistan has) is not only un-Islamic and against verses of Quran as well as Sunnah of Prophet (SAW), but it is inhumane and playing a role in demonising Islam all over the world.
Further, before giving vote to a party, one should think what they stand for. Pakistanis should also tell government that when a person is given job in army, police, security forces, intelligence agencies, judiciary, and most government departments, vetting of the person should be done to make sure whoever gets into such jobs have balanced mind, do not have radical beliefs nor support people with radical beliefs. It is important to bring sanity and crush terrorist elements in the country.

Definitely should be hanged till death to send the message to people taking law in their hands even though it's almost guaranteed that his jahil supporters will kill more innocent people as a revenge but would be great if we get rid of him before he murders more people he has been planning to kill.

in pakistan in normal cases, some time people stay on death row for 10-13 years.
In this case even judges are fearful of him.
So Its hard to believe he is going to be hanged any time soon.

Freedom of speech allows for one to say whatever they wish. But when you cross that line into physical violent action then its a separate matter all together.
Regardless the law should be followed to its full conclusion if that includes the death penalty so be it. The question is what was decided by the courts at the end?

Please think: I believe and wish that Mumtaz Qadri should be hanged, but I am also a bit surprised on the issue. Mumtaz Qadri is not one person, he is PMLN. I would not be surprised if Qadri killed Salman Taseer for political reason and on behalf of Sharif brothers.
Reasons for such beliefs: Punjab government (Shahbaz Shareef) mysteriously gave job to Mumtaz Qadri as security personal of Salman Taseer. I think, it was with design and not just a mistake. Why?
1: Mumtaz Qadri was given death sentence by anti-terrorist court judge Pervaiz Ali Shah (who gave justice facing many threats), and Qadri appealed to Lahore High Court (where judges are mostly personal servants of Sharif brothers).
Khawaja Shareef, an ex-Chief justice of Lahore High Court Punjab and obedient servant of Sharif family (PMLN), voluntarily became lawyer of Qadri to defend him in Lahore High Court. Lahore High court suspended death sentence of Mumtaz Qadri, and I think case hearing in LHC is almost dormant.
