Time/Money

Don’t get me wrong, i am grateful for having positions which have paid extremely well. When I was starting out, I wanted to set up an emergency fund, which turned into a house fund and eventually I had my home paid for. Then I started investing, taking vacations, donating money. My jobs have paid well but left me with little free time, so most of the money has been saved. I spend freely for a good vacation or good cause, but I am reaching that point where I wake up thinking that having more time will allow me to reconnect with things that are dear to: family, friends, my deen, and additional education.

Anyone have any advice on moving beyond the career/money, to pursue things that are more fulfilling? I do that I’ll miss the fat paycheck, expense accounts and the work-friends.

Re: Time/Money

Don't know what profession you are in, but you could move into a job that offers good money and work-life balance. There is not dearth of such jobs in the US, given you have the right credentials.

Re: Time/Money

The answer should be obvious to you.

You want to have free-time? Swap for something with a lighter work load.
You want that paycheck? Keep at it and you'll have what you want.

You're that good? Become a consultant. If you have the right history and knowledge, in any industry, you can become a consultant. I did this for a while and its very fulfilling. You get the pay and you get the time. Enjoy your life.
