Re: Time management

Prepare a "To do " list on a daily basis.Write the most important things at the top of the list & keep looking at your list from time to time :D
Treat yourself with something nice at the end of the day if you completed everything on your list.

Re: Time management

Learn to say no
Check email only on a pre-determined frequency - say once in 2 hours
Prioritize tasks
If possible align degree of difficult of tasks with time of day when you can tackle them best - eg. reading complicated stuff - early morning if that is when you are at peak, more mundane stuff - later in the day when you dont have to be at 100% efficiency
Biggest time killer - GS - allocate time wisely (do as I say not as I do)
Set reasonablel deadlines - and meet them
Tackle least pleasant tasks head-on. (Do as I say...)
Dont procrastinate writing term papers till last minute. And dont fall back on excuses life writers block. Deal with it and just do it. (Do as I say...)

Re: Time management

to do lists. with no more than 4-5 items on it. more and if you are anything like me, its pointless.

and if you get used to them, there are methodologies like GTD to further streamline your process.

Re: Time management

work according to the priority, importance & need of urgency

Re: Time management

Single most important thing in Time Management is to know when to quit (not job but any task that you are on currently)

Re: Time management

Proper planning is very important in time management. Spending time on planning saves one from hassle. Prioritise things and plan according to the importance and the time available to do the chores. Annual, monthly, weekly and daily plans help alot. Use your time during elevators and while driving (or commuting) early in the morning to mentally do your homework about what to do during the day and plan accordingly. Mentally evaluate yourself before going to sleep and start from there the next day.

Maintaining diaries, To-do notes and alarms, post-it notes etc are some of the ways to help you in time management.
