Pros:
-It keeps track of iterations of files so individual restores are helpful
Cons:
-Very messy computer restore. I've never been able to get a computer to come back with the Time Machine
-Needs the entire hard drive for TimeMachine (you could always partition the drive using DiskUtility)

For those instances use SuperDuper. Makes an image of the hard drive (or you can use drive duplication), which you can mount if you want to extract out certain files from the backup

^ I backed up my laptop using Time Machine yesterday. Later, when I tried to look at the files, it was layers after layers that looked like I was on a Star Wars mission! Quite confusing it would be for restoration I think...
