Day in, day out I hear (from media people) how much they are suppressed in Pakistan not telling us how much $$$$$$$$$ they are making. These show hosts, anchors and media outlet owners are among the best paid in Pakistan. Pakistan has given them fame, Pakistan has given them money, Pakistan has given them just about everything. Its about time they join the fight against terrorists in Pakistan.
Here are some of the immediate steps Media should take.
-
Stop making these terrorists hero by (unintentionally) projecting them. We do not need to hear the terrorists’ prospective on the media. We do not want to see them in masks with rocket launchers and AK47 chanting Allah-o-Akbar. It does not give any valuable information except for transforming monsters into heroes for some people.
-
Stop inviting known extremists/terrorists on your TV shows. Stop taking them on phone. We do not need to know what Burqa Mullah think of Peshawar attack or what did TTP’s Shakil Kharasani write in email to media outlets.
-
Blackout the responsibility claims of terrorists attacks. Most of the time, that’s the only reasons they do attack as they get publicity by claiming the responsibility. If its really necessary to tell about it, one line news will suffice.
-
Highlight the scarifies Pakistani Qoom and forces giving in this war against Pakistan on daily basis and not only for couple of days when some incident happens. When you are at war, you need to remind your people daily because we the people have short term memory.
There is no such thing has mader-pidar aazad media, not even in west. Independence comes with responsibility. Unfortunately in Pakistan, media is enjoying its independence without any responsibility. Blacking out news/stories is a common practice even in west where media outlets simply blackout the whole story with or without request from officials.
Feel free to add more suggestions.
Please keep the thread free from PTI vs PMLN or other political discussions
Re: Time for Media to payback to Pakistan
Just Check out Javed Ch.'s recent columns, he is trying his best to create disunity and disappointment in the war against terrorism.
This guy was nothing ( as per his own columns) and Pakistan made him what he is today and he instead of writing on the issues at hand, either writes about his visits or about negative aspects of the war!!!

Media houses are big businesses. The things you are suggesting would not sell.
Re: Time for Media to payback to Pakistan
^^ The profit for their businesses is directly related to commercials they get ( if they not getting paid from elsewhere) and commercials are from business houses, if they continue with what they doing, soon they would be looking jobs abroad, where they can be hired a tea-boy/girls

then I am all for taking away some of the Independence and if that's call censorship, then so be it.

We are Pakistanis. We do not plan for long term.

I'd agree only because of the circumstances we are living in. Definitely not a 'normal' period even by Pakistani standards and someone has to do something about how these things are portrayed on TV.
Re: Time for Media to payback to Pakistan
Media house acts on establishment's advice
Example
When advice comes , They gave full time to TuQ , even leave commercials
you have seen it in 2012 and 2014
So why asking them
all the duties , you are asking , they do on advice only
If you saw them standing against Mush , Kiani was behind

Don't forget Orya Maqbool Jaan.... I have no clue how he is even allowed to write anything.
