tilla jogiaan

this is the same place where pakistan tested ghauri missile from and also where ranjha’s ears were slit balay put in them and he came to be known as “kanphata jogi”…

tilla jogiaan near jhelum

Tilla Jogian the highest peak in the Eastern Salt Range at 975 meters (3200ft) above sea level, is about 25 km to the west of Jhelum city. The view from the top of Tilla is highly rewarding. Tilla Jogian is so named because there used to be the monastery of famous Jogi Goraknath. One can still see the remains of this old monastery and a water pond. Rohtas Fort is the second major attraction of this tour. This fort is located in the east of Tilla Jogian at a distance of about 7 km from Dian, a small town on G.T. Road. Sher Shah Suri built Rohtas Fort in 1540s and now it is one of the most imposing historical monuments of Pakistan.

they say that the spirits of the jogis still wander in these areas…like a ball of light…but scientists say it is just electricity charge that is created due to temperature difference…

there’s also a song .. “tilla jogi da”…

Re: tilla jogiaan

Aah yes Irem…also the land of Sehti Muraad. Sehti happened to be the sister of the guy whom Heer was forcibly married to.

And the Rohtas qilla is 7 km from Dina, not dian. The website messed up the spelling.

You are right about Ghauri as well. Tilla ranges are Pakistan army’s largest firing and testing ranges, and missile tests are routinely carried out there.

Rohtas qilla is in many ways even more imposing and spooky than the Lahore Fort. Too bad it is in ruins, and virtually no attention is paid to its repairs and upkeep.

Re: tilla jogiaan

Akif bhai, thanks for the info :k: And I agree, we should preserve such places…we’re lucky to have them in our country…
