Tilism-e-Hoshruba

I’ve always said this to friends and people I’ve known. Someone translate Dastaan e Ameer Hamza and Tilism e Hoshruba into English and do a good translation… and people will forget about Harry Potter… its really that good! Its amazing…

I always used to joke that hey I have an idea that will make me a millionaire! just do a really good translation of these two dastans and publish it in English… Well, I know I would have just talked about it and would have done nothing. But im sooo glad to find out that someone actually is doing this right now! They have put in alot of effort into it and have taken it upon themselves to bring these great dastaans (tilism e hoshruba for now I guess) to the rest of the world! I’m so surprised that this awesome piece of fiction has never been translated to other languages and it has taken this long.

I sincerely hope they market it well, and dont just target desis… This deserves a worldwide exposure and I hope the translation is done well. I accidentally stumbled upon this while reading Dawn.com

Even the history of the origins of the two tales was very fascinating to read. I have just read the kids version of dastan e ameer hanza and the tilism e hoshruba as a young kid but god it was soo good! I’m excited to finally be getting a chance to read the real deal.. the original adult version of the dastan. I’m definitely buying it!

Any other fans?? Thoughts?

Heres where I found it:

Hoshruba: The Land and The Tilism

HOSHRUBA: The Land & the Tilism

Kakay,

You might be interested in The Adventures of Amir Hamza then. This was translated by Musharraf Ali Farooqi. Same guy who is now translating Hoshruba.

I actually googled “Umru Ayyar” couple days ago and that’s how I came across the Dastaan e Ameer Hamza link first. Definitely looking forward to reading it before Hoshruba comes out in June.

You've gota be kidding me!

No one in here cares that Tilism e Hoshruba is coming out?!

Someone move this to All Views please... or close it. Obviously 3 people come and visit this forum... and they are probably not interested in this kinda stuff. This will probably appeal more to general public, and not the proper culture and linguistics and literature freaks :p
