Tights with Dresses

I bought this really cute dress yesterday. It’s kind of loose and flowyish and the print is really pretty. The border on it is black, so I tried on this black shirt I had to wear underneath since the dress is sleeveless. And then I tried on this pair of black tights that I have that come up like 2 inches above my ankles and it looked realllyyyyy cute (plus I have matching earrings).

But I showed my mom and she’s like no you can’t wear that. :frowning:

I don’t think it looks provocative at all. The dress is like almost down to my knees and it’s loose. My parents are kinda strict about how we should dress I mean like we shouldn’t wear tight clothes or anything too showy, but I really don’t think there’s anything wrong with this. I know the tights are TIGHT but really, who is going to be checking out my CALFS?! Does anyone else here think it’s not okay to wear tights with a dress like almost down to your knees? If so, please explain more because I’m really having trouble understanding my parents on this one…

3/4 tights would look nice but it depends on your parents :)

Well I think the tights being a little above my ankles made my mom kind of uneasy but also the fact that they're tight and you can see my legs (but not really even =). I don't knoww..

I tried skinny jeans with it and it just doesn't look as good. =\

I'm in a totally different state of mind when I'm shopping. I don't think of anything but ooo that's pretty =] lol jk

but actually when I got the dress I was planning on wearing it with skinny jeans but then when I came home and tried it on with the skinny jeans, it didn't look as good as with the tights.

ur mama lets u wear skinny jeans but not tights with long dress??:emmy:

anyways yeah dresses look really cure with 3/4 lenght tights or even long tights

if ur mama doesnt let u wear it with short tight go with longer tight it will look nice too

and try wearing it with flat ballet slippers or platform pumps it will look good

i know how parents can ruin ur really good plans by saying no u cant wear that

but sumtimes i think they r right khikhi cuz the skirts i buy r really short and it makes them uncomfortable khikhi

but they r not that short knee high but u know desi parents

but i wear them with skin coloured tights or 3/4 length tights or even panty hose and they let me

they give up cuz im the only daughter thy have khikhi :cb:

I can wear skinny jeans but I only wear them with longer shirts or dresses. I think they look bad if you wear them with regular length shirts…

I think she might also have a problem with the fact that they’re tight. The skinny jeans atleast have some chuntey in them plus the fabric isn’t like elastic so it doesn’t fully show the shape of my leg. Anyways, I think the whole thing is pretty gay and I think I should be allowed to wear it. klasjfklasjdlgkjafd

kali billi - my parents aren’t as lenient as yours. :bummer: i wish they would let me do my own thing. i’m not gonna go crazy. i have my limits. i’m just a bit more liberal than they are. :\

i know i dont like skinny jeand with short shirts they look horrible

i think skinny jeans looks horrible simply never liked them :disgust:

but with longer sweaters or shirts they look really pretty

i bought a really pretty skirt was just above knees and my mom was like ur not gonna wear it so i wore jeans:bummer:

but after that i go like " ok im not going im gonna stay at home like a pretty princess im not going with u guys :naraz: "

so they let me do watever i want:cb:

Oh yeah...

as much as i hate to say it, listen to ur mom. it's not about the tights showing ur legs etc, it's a control/trust issue. Believe me i know exactly where you are coming from, and i can tell u that it is not a battle worth fighting.

Kali billi, sorry to be nosy and butt in, but you live in Saudi right? where do you wear these clothes? if ur wearing an abaya every where, then the clothes underneath shdnt matter rite?

Yea. I don’t want to wear them without their approval cuz then I would feel bad. I just wish they would be a bit less conservative on every little issue!

sigh. okay i’m done. they win. =< like always. I’ll just wear the outfit around in my room infront of the mirror. :teary2:

Phati, i am going to be the devil's advocate here. Whatever your parents are saying is not wrong, is it? Religion wise i mean.

Anyhow, remember the dress i was talking about? Its like yours i think, past my knees but not to my ankles. I tried different pants with it that are less flarier than the ones i tried before and it actually doesnt look bad.
