Tigeress skinned to offer sacrifice for VIP
HYDERABAD - In a startling new development to the killing and skinning of the tigress “Sakhi” inside Hyderabad Zoo it has emerged that the Royal Bengal
tigress was killed for her blood, which was apparently
needed to perform a Maha Mrityunjaya Yagna during Durgashtami. Zoo officials and a conservator of forests have stated as much in off-the-record conversations and confessed to being totally demoralised that such an incident could take place within the precincts of the zoo.
Zoo, employees on the other hand now allege that some senior officials tried to divert attention from the Yagna angle by trying to make it seem as though the tigeress was killed for her skin. Persons, with a lust for power, prosperity and long life perform the Maha Mrityunjaya Yagna which runs for 108 days. On the last day which co-incides with Durgashtami the yagna climaxes with an offering of the blood of a tigress preferably one below 15 months of age.
The tigress “Sakhi” was 13 months old and was killed on
October4, Durgashtami. Its jugular vein had been cut.Dr Y.Ravi Kumar, an astropalmist in Hyderabad says,
***“Of late, superstition has exceeded all limits. There is
Kali Puja where a 108 day Yagna is performed for Kalika Devi and ferocious animals are offered for sacrifice. It has been happening for the last 75 years. People do believe in it.” ***
Tantriks claim a tigress below 15 months of age has great spiritual powers, and by offering its blood any wish can be fulfilled. People simply buy the skin and keep it in their houses to ward off evil.

Isn’t the tiger an endangered species?
