re: Tie n Dye...
Wow lovely!
Lusi, can you tell me the basic difference between tie dye, battic/battique and chunri/bandhini?
Re: Tie n Dye…
Nikki baji, I am not sure what battic is… ![]()
In tie n dye, you basically tie the fabric in different ways and dye them where as for chunri first you tie n dye and then put chunuts in the fabric. You give chunnuts in the fabric while the fabric is still wet after tie n dye. After giving chunnuts, let the fabric dry completely.

Re: Tie n Dye…
Thanks for the description Lusi. I remember I did try tie and dye in an art class once, when I was like 10, so I do remember a bit but not much.
Battic I believe, is drawing on a cloth, then covering certain areas with wax, then dipping into color, then applying wax to other areas and dipping into color again. I guess the wax keeps the color out.
I guess it is called Batik. It’s a wax-resist dyeing technique. It’s one of the national arts of Indonesia.

NIKSIK....yeah batik painting involves something to do with applying wax and then paint or sth like that...
i remember visiting a local batik painting place in Thailand almost 10 yrs ago....i don't remember the details but i guess its mostly colorful paintings of flowers and birds etc...really beautiful...:)
