Ticket question

I’m live in the states with my husband and am thinking of travelling to the uk(im a british citizen) to meet my parents. I want to stay there for 6months because thats how much time my green card will allow me to stay out of the country. However, I just called up PIA for seat reservations and the agent told me i can only book the seat for 3 months or get a one way ticket.Firstly, why is that? i mean i have seen people go for months to pak or eng. The guy said if i wanted to extend it after 3 mmonths i would have to call PIA directly and ask them for extension which they would grant if they felt it was ok!!! Im sure this doesnt sound right can someone please put some light on this situation for me. Also is it possible to get a one way ticket with a green card?
thanks!

Re: Ticket question

seashell.. first of all the USCIS has extended the duration that you can stay out of the country with a green card, it's one year now rather than six months. You can check their website or call them up. Besides that, you should have no problem getting a one way ticket with your green card... green card has nothing to do with your ticket!

Usually PIA's return tickets are good for 4- 6 months, if your travel agent isn't giving you that information, double check with someone else. Worse comes to worse, you should be able to get the one way ticket without any problem.

Re: Ticket question

IATA standards usually fix the term per 4 months on return tickets unless Airline wants to offer longer term, some airlines do offer 6 months on their tickets. Dont rely on PIA only, check others too.

Also check if its worth buying a one year open return ticket or two oneway tickets. There are several options, a booking agent should be able to help & guide u through them.
