I would never critisize any improvement on Gupshup, but this new policy of having thumbnails instead of full images is certainly not an improvement from my point of view.
I don’t have anything against thumbnails in general, but imposing their usage is
It is ok with me when posting images using the new upload applet. But why does it change the resolution and decrease the size of the pic..??? Even though there is a size limit, so the size is below the required 75k. Still is decreases the colour depth I have noticed. Regardless of what kind of a pic it is.
I think it should atleast let us upload the pic in its original state as it is being uploaded…
On the issue of thumbnails, we did have a full-scale poll to find out the opinion of our members. One of the reasons we went for thumbnails was to ensure a consistent look of our forum pages. An overwhelming majority (87%) of the members supported the idea. Only then it was put in effect.
And once a policy is adopted, it is obvious that it should be followed by everyone.
Gizzy’s point about uploaded pictures losing their quality is a good one. It will be brought to the attention of the technical team.
What I'm against is, that different threads and posts in them are just edited without any notification to impose the usage of these thumbnails.<<
Umer some members were posting thumbnails and large images, which is not acceptable. Sure we could've handled 'imposing the policy' part differently. Next time, Insha Allah we'll plan better :)
Thumbnail vs large images is a long discussion, lekin you guys have already decided (Poll), so let's just accept it :)
Saba ji, I also voted for the thumbnail option (which I also accept).. But there was nothing known at the time that the tag will be discontinued or be banned..
Don. You should give people the choice of having thumbnails. Dont make it a must. Let people hav a choice. Majority of people voted YES on ENABLING thumbnails.
I never understand why we can go for a very simple solution.we can just put a script which ll resize the picture.
Lets say we have defined the size 100*100 (example) so let the users post what they are posting but when any of picture ll cross the limit the script ll resize this picture to 100*100 so lay out of Forum ll be save and every one ll happy.
dont know if there is any other technival reason behind.is there any ???
Even right now, some members (above) are complaining for loss in quality of pics after they have uploaded them on GS. To forcibly reduce the size would create another uproar. IMPO.
Right now with so many changes going on, it seems that the technical team is discussing the best possible strategy. All the input above would be helpful. Hopefully. :)
Ok point taken. But in that case to limit the user to post 100*100(examp) ll be good then the thumbnails.
some time in previous version i have people who posted links only to other websites to see the pictures and people even dont bother to visit a single click sometime.
BTW whats the problem if someone post picture from its server with img tag except the Page lay out ???
And in answer of Saba baji .Poll is not option sometime we need to decide ourselves what ll be better and what ll be the practical implementation.Specially in Networks and web.App loog khud wisely decide kertey tu zaida behter hota.Pakistan mein poll kia jay ke india pe humla ker dein or no then 80% or more ll say ker dein. But aisa kia nahi ja sukey ga so sometime the higher people can better understand what could be the better option.
HaiN pooccha tau bhi ghalat na poocho tau bhi ghalat. Arrey bhai asaan si baat hai, thumbnail upload karo, Insha Allah ham tasweereiN zaroor dekheiN ge. Aap ko tau is se matlab hai na :)
Gizzy, we had to do that. And we didn't manage to 'warn' you guys in time, jis ke liye - Sorry :)
