A very good read that I came across. The truth of the matter is that even though non-muslim nations do take some blame, the muslims themselves are responsible for the mess they are in. We stop following islam and then we complain about how things are not working out for us.

*And it is obligatory to know an unchanging Sharee’ah principle which will produce a certainty that will open up our intellects and awaken us to the true realities of the state of our affairs, and it is this that whatever calamities have befallen us, or that now befall us, or will befall us, then it is because of what our own hands have earned: and because of our falling short with regards to fulfilling the obligations of our Deen. As Allaah subhaanahu wa ta’ala says in the Qur aan:
“Whatever calamity and misfortune befalls you, it is because of what your own hands have earned”
(Soorah ash-Shooraa 42:30) and
“Whatever evil befalls you, it is from your own self”
(Soorah an-Nisaa 4:79) *
i truly believe in these verse of Holy book ....infact , the other day i was reading that Imam malik (if i rightly remember it ) once said that towards the last days of this ummah (near Qiyamat) the ummah will need to correct itself just like it was in early days ....that is every individual tried to correct himself ...it was not an effort in jamaa'at ...rather individual one .....n now a days we really need it ...coz we can see there r countless organizations n they all r working (more or less) but still there is no evident change coz individuasls r not checking themselves what they r doing ....rather its an atmosphere of criticism ...!!!
May Allah Almighty guide us all to wake up n follow the path of right ones ...Ameen !!!
