throwing tantrum before sxhool

My 4 year old throws a tantrum every morning before nursery. Shes totally fine and happy once in car on the way to nursery and at nursery she’s totally fine.

She doesn’t want to wake up. And once up doesn’t want yo change or eat and sulks and cries

She hasn’t.gone to any kind of school.before.and we enrolled.her.mid September.

Is.this.normal.or not. I’m becoming fed up really.ans really.just want to give her a smack. She’s totally hyper and hysterical.

Re: throwing tantrum before sxhool

What was her previous wake-up routine before nursery?
Was she in the habit of sleeping in?

Re: throwing tantrum before sxhool

Yes

:frowning:

what time.is she going to bed?

Re: throwing tantrum before sxhool

9pm. Wake up at 7.15

At that age, I think her bedtime should be 8pm. Maintain a strict routine leading up to bedtime (including laying out her clothes and school stuff the night before to reduce any struggles in the morning). Kids, especially at that age, thrive on routines.

And like it or not, some kids will just never be “morning people”. My 11 year old is still a Mr Cranky Pants every single morning when it’s time to get ready for school :hinna:

i agree with khatti… her bedtime is way too late. she should be in bed by max 8pm. some kids need their sleep mire than others.

Re: throwing tantrum before sxhool

LOL @eastern11 – some days I still wanna cry in the morning…

yeah…if she was sleeping in before then of course she is gonna have a tough time adjusting to the new routine.
what time do you get up?
if she is getting up at 7:15 then what time does she need to leave the house? start waking her earlier each day until you find a time where she is not being rushed in the morning.
some kids need to have some “lazy time” in the bed before they are fully alert…fighting that need will make your job tougher.
