Throwing a birthday party

If you throw your kid a birthday party, do you try ot keep in mind the gender of the kids attending when it comes to the party favors and decors?

Let’s say your girl loves Disney Princesses and u have that as the decor, cake etc…or son loves Spiderman and stuff…would it be odd to give boys Disney princess-themed party favors and girls spiderman stuff? Or do you try to get gender-neutral favors? :konfused:

Re: Throwing a birthday party

I get neutral or boy themed favors for the boy attendees when I am having a girlish themed party for muy daughter and vice versa.

its so confuzzling :/

Re: Throwing a birthday party

Let's say I invite 4 boys and 10 girls for my daughter's party, I make sure I have 4 boy-friendly goody bags. As far as the decor is concerned, it follows whatever theme we've picked...and usually it's very girly. The little boys usually don't care as long as their goody bags have boy stuff. Also, if we play games, I don't do girly stuff but gender neutral stuff.

Re: Throwing a birthday party

When I was planning my daughter's 1st BD party,I was confused about the party favors as well. There were boys and girls of different ages and obviously with different interests. After much thinking I decided to just go with candy/chocolate in all the favor bags, for everyone.I thought it was the right thing to do,I mean everyone loves candy..and if the kids wont eat it then the parents can...:D
Regarding the decor,it was not a character based theme...just a pattern I followed for everything..the plates, the cake, banners, balloons and other stuff. It was in girly colors though but I wouldn't have done it otherwise.

Re: Throwing a birthday party

only for the goody bags do you need to get gender specific or just out tons of candy.

Re: Throwing a birthday party

Er, I didn't even consider the gender divide when I threw my son his recent 3rd birthday. He wanted a dinosaur party, so he got one. All the kids were given a dinosaur loot bag with dinosaur toys/treats, etc., including the little girls and babies.

Re: Throwing a birthday party

i usually end up doing my boys' bdays together since my oldest and the twins are less than 2 yrs apart...this year, we did it at chuck e cheese, so for party favors, i went to Walmart and got those big bubble wands for $1 a piece, and than tied a favor bag of mixed candy to each one...it was cheap, fast and very gender neutral!!! In the past, when we've done their parties at home, I've stuck to gender neutral themes like Finding Nemo (for my oldest's first birthday), or Spongebob (when they were turning 5 & 3).....

Re: Throwing a birthday party

My daughter’s 1st birthday party was a grand one with many kidos. The theme was Disney Princesses however I gave the loot bags according to gender . Girls got Disney princesses wallet , Disney princesses sticker book & pencil & eraser along with other neutral goodies like a small ball , balloons & candies. Boys got Ben10 wallet & Ben10 sticker book with Ben10 pencil & eraser with the same neutral goodies.

The decoration & cake was according to the Disney princesses theme
