But the money received by thrift stores goes to charity. So by purchasing things from thrift stores, you’re technically helping those less fortunate.

i’ll give you an example…suppose there is a crystal piece which at a thrift store sells for $10…now if someone buys that then the $10 will go to charity, prolly only $8 will go because of the administrative expenses will eat up $2…now, this less fortunate person can never buy the equivalent piece of crystal for $8. now, you may ask why a poor person wud want to buy a crystal piece…i wud say…those people also have the right to a small luxuries in life which they wanna buy with whatever little they have. we shouldn’t take that away from them!
