**Renowned lawyer Saeed Khurshid again resigns against policies of CJP **
ISLAMABAD: Former Civil Judge and renowned lawyer Saeed Khurshid has again resigned in protest against policies of Chief Justice of Pakistan, saying the CJP has hijacked the institution of the judiciary.
Talking to Online on Monday, Saeed Khurshid said that no verdict of the Supreme Court has given impression of impartiality even after the completion of one year of independence of judiciary and negative impression of the judiciary was emerging among masses.
Saeed Khurshid who was the first judge who resigned during lawyers’ movement, opined that all decisions taken by the judiciary in the last year were taken on the basis of favoritism and revenge and no decision was taken in the interest of common people.
The former civil judge urged upon the chief justice to convert the judiciary into a better institution and promote the democratic norms instead of dictatorship and avoid to challenge the writ of the Parliament.
He said that hundreds of people lost their lives in the movement for restoration of the judiciary and they rendered the sacrifices for the sake of justice. He also criticized the new judiciary policy.
Saeed Khurshid emphasized that the judges should also face accountability and their assets be declared, adding every one has to uphold the constitution. He said that there is need for interpretation of Judicial Review, adding in the past, it was used for the extension of Musharraf’s regime and against the public mandate of former Prime Minster Mian Nawaz Sharif and now it (Judicial Review) is being used against the current government.
He raised questions about holding of all powers by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhary and Justice Khawaja Muhammad Sharif and urged him (Iftikhar Chaudhary) to keep in view public interest rather than interfering in institutions.
The former civil judge said that it is the responsibility of all of us to materialize the dream of Independence of Judiciary, adding he had written several letters to CJP but he did not pay attention, therefore he had again tendered his resignation.
