Pakistani boxing legend Abrar Hussain, who won the gold medal at the Asian Games in 1990 and represented Pakistan in the 1984, 1988 and 1992 Summer Olympics, was shot and killed in the Baluchistan province of Pakistan, said police. Abrar, 51, was “shot dead by target killers” as he was driving home after leaving his office in the Ayub Stadium in Quetta, where he worked as the Chairman of the Baluchistan Sport Board, according to NDTV.“He was shot several times and was also hit in the head. He was rushed to hospital but died before any medical help could be given to him,” said Akram Khan, the secretary of the Pakistan Boxing Federation.

Nothing to cheer up your day like hearing of more violence in a Middle East hotspot that happens to have nukes. Unfortunately it’s to the point now where many of us have become desensitized to such stories. But an incident like this, involving a popular athlete with a backstory we can relate to, kind of makes it hit home. As it should.

I dont know if it happened a little earlier or its a latest story. But that’s so sad.. Not sure if it was a result of a personal animosity, but regardless, its the loss of a person who served this country and gave us the fame on international level. How long will we be treating our heroes like that. Its like shame on everyone of us.
Inna lillah..
