Three Punjabi Taliban killed in drone attack

Yet another attack on ‘maut ke saudagar’.

Three Punjabi Taliban killed in drone attack - DAWN.COM

MIRAMSHAH, Nov 29: Three people were killed and another was wounded in the US drone attack [briefly reported on Friday] on a residential compound near Miramshah in North Waziristan Agency after midnight on Thursday, sources said.

They said the persons killed were affiliated with the Miramshah-based Baddar Mansoor (BM) group, an offshoot of Punjabi Taliban. They hailed from Karachi.

Qari Aslam alias Yaseen, who was injured in the attack, was admitted to a hospital in the area.

The sources identified one of the dead as Ibrahim and said he was an Information Technology expert.

Two missiles were fired by the drone at the compound in Angher Village. The place belongs to a tribesman who had rented it out to the BM group. Reports from the area said the local people had retrieved three bodies and one wounded person from the damaged compound.

According to AFP, a senior security official, two suspected militants were killed and two others wounded.

The identities of those killed in the strike were not immediately known but they appeared to be of Central Asian origin, the official said.

Another security official in Miramshah said two Taliban militants were wounded in the attack and were identified as Punjabi Taliban.

“One of them, Aslam alias Yaseen, is linked with attacks on Pakistan army headquarters in Rawalpindi and another attack on (the) naval base in Karachi,” the security official said.

In May 2011, heavily armed militants besieged a naval airbase in Karachi, destroying two US-made P-3C Orion surveillance aircraft, an attack that took 17 hours to repel and left 10 military personnel dead.

This was the third drone strike during the current month. On Nov 1, a drone strike killed banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan chief Hakeemullah Mehsud near Miramshah.

The second attack was carried out in Thall area in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Nov 21 in which a seminary was targeted and six people, including three key commanders of the Haqqani group, were killed.

Re: Three Punjabi Taliban killed in drone attack

Oh no...more PTI marches for dead terrorists soon. This time IK won't stop marching...he is going to march from Pakistan to NY & onward to the DC. :D

Re: Three Punjabi Taliban killed in drone attack

Pretty lame that instead of highlighting the failure of previous and current govts in dealing with terrorism internally, you have to resort to this.

Secondly, its quite surprising that the govt can list out the name of the dead terrorists, their party affiliations, their sub parties, their uncle's names, the madrassa they went to, the last dinner they ate, and the clothes they were wearing.....but somehow, they cant even mention the innocents killed alongside, let alone reveal their names.
Sources said blurb, and we believe it hook line and sinker. Even when 80+ children were killed in a drone strike several years ago, the news headline said "1 terrorist among 85 killed."

Can you please link this news?

Couldn’t find exact news but link from Wiki

Chenagai airstrike - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

There are some news article links on that page.

Re: Three Punjabi Taliban killed in drone attack

There is lots of anti-drone propaganda particularly supporters of IK. There may be some truth but I want to know what a supporter says is a cooked up story or it really happened. I want the exact news what he says.

Pakistanis should be thankful to Sam for effectively dealing with this nonsense where poor people were the major targets of these “maut ke saudagar”.

Re: Three Punjabi Taliban killed in drone attack

At least previous and the current govts do not support terrorists, unlike PTI and IK. When was the last time PTI protested against terrorists attacks? Drones are bogeyman for PTI to divert public attention from real problems & their election promises.

Drone attacks are effective against terrorists & are happening with knowledge and consent of the Pakistani army. Perhaps instead of protesting against the US maybe PTI should march on GHQ?

Re: Three Punjabi Taliban killed in drone attack

haathi ke daant dikhanay ke aur ....

Which party has "protested" against terrorists attacks (not talking about a stupid statement)? Which govt has actually arrested a terrorist following a terrorism, prosecuted and punished him? We have such high profile terrorism in last few years, how many terrorists were punished?

In that case the army or government should make it clear to the awam that government/army is working with US govt for reason bla bla (need to give a legit reason) instead of continuous lying/denial.

Re: Three Punjabi Taliban killed in drone attack

bachon ki jaan lo gey?

Mush can 'afford' high profile security. PML(N) members would become instant targets.

Re: Three Punjabi Taliban killed in drone attack

then they need to stop what they can't defend, simple.

Re: Three Punjabi Taliban killed in drone attack

Everyone's playing politics over Taliban and drones. Everyone including PTI, PML(N), MQM, ANP, PPP milked the issue before elections and no one is willing to do anything about it now.

It is quite clear that terrorists can be replaced easily. Drones only increase the recruitment intensity and are a great marketing tool for Taliban. Do you really hurt an organization by killing a few of the members where the major goal of the members is to get killed and enjoy the 72 hoors?

It is also quite clear that Mush had a deal with US for allowing them to use drones in Pakistan and Pakistani military cannot go back on that deal.

Eventually, US would leave and we'll be in a much greater mess than we are as of now. Drones only help US in the short term but would hurt us in the long run.

PTI and PML(N) should stop behaving like opposition parties and consider devising a serious solution. Serious talks with military leadership is a per-requisite for any talks with taliban.

Re: Three Punjabi Taliban killed in drone attack

PPP, ANP and MQM & they paid with their lives especially ANP which lost 100s of workers/members in Taliban attacks.

I think its pretty clear...maybe not to PTI b/c they need something to protest about. If the drone issue goes away they will be protesting about something else b/c protesting is easy & governing is hard.

BTW, what has happened to PTI's 100s days promises? Like I said before, PTI has become JI...protest party that thrives on negative politics & they have nothing constrictive to offer in terms of fixing the country's problems.

Re: Three Punjabi Taliban killed in drone attack

Can you show me protests organized by PPP, MQM, ANP against terrorism? I am not talking about verbal statement after they killed a leader/supporter. Like a dharna, street demo etc.

No, this is not clear, it is considered 'conspiracy theory' that govt is in collusion with US when the govt keeps denying in the press, claims it has asked US to stop drones... then it may be clear to everyone who actually wants the drones to continue.

Re: Three Punjabi Taliban killed in drone attack

PTI has been supporting talks before and still supports the talks, so PTI should not be in "not willing to do" list. However, PML-Nihari league supported talks, now supports drones, so clearly they have made a u-turn and are not willing to do anything about it. PPP, MQM, ANP have been in power before and didn't do zilch so they will continue to do the same zilch.

Re: Three Punjabi Taliban killed in drone attack

Anp did confront the taleban but whose responsibility was to improve the police and intelligence mechanism of the province? They fought a war for a decade and looted even the funds of the police? Maybe many lives that they lost could have been saved if they had at least left security out of their looting spree.

Re: Three Punjabi Taliban killed in drone attack

In recent days the police has foiled a few terrorist attacks in the province and even caught a few terrorists. Not surprisingly this won't be highlighted by the media. I am sure they'd be set free in a few months by the judiciary.

Re: Three Punjabi Taliban killed in drone attack

Bhata mafia is taking roots in Punjab speedily yet no one is willing to acknowledge it, just like the existence of Punjabi Taliban.

Re: Three Punjabi Taliban killed in drone attack

How can you kill Punjabi Talebans when they dont even exist..yeh saab josh e khitabat hai

Re: Three Punjabi Taliban killed in drone attack

That would require a lot of steps like taking ownership and perhaps sending military in NWA and setting up a professional police force that can protect the free practice of democracy and bureaucracy there. Pakistan is unwilling to do it either due to the ostrich approach or because of "other games" that are more important than the game plan for the actual integrity of the State of Pakistan.

Re: Three Punjabi Taliban killed in drone attack

These drone strikes are nothing more than a failure of Pakistan to police its own borders.

Its all well and good when these animals attack other Pakistanis; Pakistani Govt and Military are completely incompetent and usually the conspiracy theory factories churn out new conspiracies that blame powers beyond Pakistan's capability to handle.

But now since these animals are attacking the West and giving shelter to foreign terrorists and thus it becomes a global problem and Pakistan's usual nonsense of deny deny deny won't work.

And thus Drone Strikes to kill these animals which is something Pakistan should be doing.
