LAHORE: Three Indian nationals were caught posing as journalists on Sunday trying to enter into the Gaddafi Stadium during the fourth One-day International between Pakistan and India.
On a day when thousands of people thronged the stadium for the match, the General Manager media of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Samiul Hasan intercepted three persons who were wearing media accreditation cards issued by the board and posing as journalists.
Hasan said that he became suspicious about the true identity of the three persons because while two of them were wearing the Indian team blue colored shirts one was dressed casually.
"Normally media men do not wear team colors while coming on official duty.
“When their names were checked with the list of journalists to whom we have issued media accreditation cards their names were not found on the list,” he said.
One of the organizers said that the three had been handed over to the police who were trying to find out how and from where they had got the copies of the media cards made.
Hasan said that the board had also held its own inquiry to confirm if any extra media accreditation cards had been issued without his knowledge. “But we have kept a complete record of the media accreditation cards issued.”
Sources said the police had carried out a check of the visas issued to the three persons and to confirm whether they were just trying to get into the stadium to watch the match by using an illegal method or there were other ulterior motives involved in their wearing fake media accreditation cards.
hmmm. Wonder what their motive was.
