Threatening email for Pakistan team in India

** By Jawed Naqvi**
NEW DELHI, Nov 24: Indian authorities were investigating an email on Saturday that warned the Pakistan cricket team to leave the country.

Pakistani officials said they were in touch with their Indian counterparts and were trying to verify the authenticity and the seriousness of the email.

India TV claimed to have received an email from [email protected] on Saturday morning in which the message threatened the visiting Pakistani cricket team to withdraw from the ongoing test series.

** Indian television channels had received an email on Friday which landed minutes after the first blast rocked Varanasi. Saturday’s email also threatened that similar blasts will take place in Chennai, Ghaziabad, Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Islamabad.**

Police officials said they were checking out the details with the TV station. Friday’s email, which used a French domain, was traced back to a cyber cafe in east Delhi. The police are questioning the owner of the cyber cafe.

Officials of the Board of Control for Cricket in India said they had spoken to the home ministry generally on the issue of security.

No e-mail threats to players: Talat
NEW DELHI, Nov 24: The Pakistan team management on Saturday rubbished reports of their cricketers getting e-mail threats and expressed satisfaction with the security cover provided to them on their ongoing tour of India.

Talat Ali, Pakistan team’s manager, expressed on Saturday the team had been provided with good security cover, saying: “We are satisfied and comfortable with the way our security is being handled.”

Earlier on Saturday, some Indian TV channels reported that e-mail threats had been sent to the Pakistan team. However, Talat said neither he nor any member of his team had received any such e-mails. “Nor is it in my knowledge. We know we are being taken care of by the local authorities,” he asserted.—Agencies

i think talat is playing politics here and doesn’t want to abandon the tour bcos then indian’s won’t tour pak in the future. however one thing is for sure, if such emails were being sent to team india they would have left the country in no time. but pakistani authorities are just to scared to take any action against the indians bcos they are the so called BIG FISH. :halo: :nook:

Re: Threatening email for Pakistan team in India

Email related to the UP blast Was sent from id [email protected]. 5minutes before UP blast took place.and this Email pertaining to threatening of Pakistani team was sent from [email protected]. seems to be the same guy?

Re: Threatening email for Pakistan team in India

really surprised by some peoples mentality

these kind of threats happen all the time, abandoning the tour doesnt even come into question, but whatever makes you feel prouder i guess; and as I remember, same kind of threats happened when India toured pak, there was no talk about abandoning tour…so left the country in no time comment is surprising.[/size]

Re: Threatening email for Pakistan team in India

I guess Saien is an Indian too......pidbull are you an Indian? I think teams should be stronger and not let these threats detroit them, they should carry on tours.....
Well I don't know about India but Aussie would leave in no time...they always look for excuses. But they did not leave when bomb blast happened n 7/7 in UK (England), they carried on their tour, if that would have happened in any of the asian countries they would have left.

Saeein Sahib, we all know how much you hate Pakistan and you dont miss a chance to bash Pakistan. However try to make some sense in your hateful posts.

If Pakistan team is going to abondon the tour just because some retarded hateful freak sent them an email then how can they expect other teams to tour Pakistan during the current situation in Pakistan?

Re: Threatening email for Pakistan team in India

^ But he got a point. What would have Indian team management do if they were threatened like this, in the shadow of religious riots in the touring country?

Re: Threatening email for Pakistan team in India

Pranksters!.....I don't think that such emails hold any weight in them

Re: Threatening email for Pakistan team in India

Yar Smoothie, first of all I am talkig about why Pakistan took that stance in respond to the email. I am not talking about Indian management stance.

The poster has a good knack for bashing Pakistan. Do you really think Pakistan is in a position to abandon a tour of India who is among the few countires who lately have been regularly touring Pakistan and not only that but have been their ally in various cricket issues. What kind of message Pakistan would be giving to all the cricketing nations? Yes we are going to beg everyone to tour Pakistan even when there are bomb explosions going on in Pakistan, however we would abondon Indian tour just because of an email?

Secondly I dont think these days any cricket team including Indian team would be abandoning a tour just because of an email.

Re: Threatening email for Pakistan team in India

This thread makes me sad in several ways.

First, some idiot sends an email threat.

Second people here start guessing motives for how others react to that email.

Third, world still hasn't woken up to the fact that we just cannot CANNOT afford to have untraceable means of communication. Free email has to be stopped. Charge 0.05 per email that's fine, but make sure every email is traceable to who sent it.

...PCB should work on a backup plan, a new team :AID:

Re: Threatening email for Pakistan team in India

Yaar, ever heard of protection of privacy or/and data privacy?
I wouldn't be happy about that either.

Re: Threatening email for Pakistan team in India

Are you telling me they don't have this capability of tracing back an email in India?

Re: Threatening email for Pakistan team in India

they tracked it back to a cafe, check cricinfo or other sites for details

Re: Threatening email for Pakistan team in India

why would you oppose to be held accountable for your own email?

Re: Threatening email for Pakistan team in India

yes. BTW it has nothing to do with India. If someone wants to send email untraceable they can do that from almost any country.

An inqury would lead to open accounts of many. Not just one person.
