Currently nowadays I am reading a commemorative special issue from National Geographic magazine…
When editor Gilbert M. Grosvenor was first sent pictures of bare breasted Balinese women, he was placed in a quandary…He didn’t know if he should print those pictures during the 1920s when even the heels and elbows of woman were a taboo to see…
Mr. Grosvenor was torn between Victorian values that America followed or printing something that was in actuality a reality and as a publication that promised an insight into other cultures, civilizations and worlds, could Mr. Grosvenor place these pictures in the NGM and risk outright shunning from society members and the world or just not print them at all, in which case the NGM would not be living up to its promise…
Despite protests from board members Mr. Grosvenor decided to print it, and today, the National Geographic Magazine is one of the most widely read, popular and respected magazines in the world…It is not because of its commentary or political affiliations, it’s just because you can expect to see nothing but what the author sees in all its entire truth…Whether it is the headhunters of Borneo or the naked tribes of the Amazon…
The reason for this entire diatribe of mine was to place before you guys a proposition: Close the video section…
The reason I say this is because the world holds fascinating things to see, strange, alarming, weird e.t.c…As a result, you will have people who will share what they see and the mods, if it doesn’t agree to their taste, will delete it…
My thread in vid was deleted…I don;t want it back, that’s why I never contacted the mod of that forum…
But you must realize, I did not make those movie clips…They were recorded by those who were there…Now, you can delete them and imagine they never existed or you can let everyone share interesting things they see which will make us all wiser and more knowledgeable about the world we live in…
Abu Ghraib scandal could have been avoided had someone decided to put a lid on it or maybe someone might have thought it prudent to keep quiet…
So you can either be someone who puts a lid on stuff or you can be someone who decides to share with others their discoveries and what they see…
While you are thinking (I hope) about what I said, enjoy something else I discovered today while browsing youtube…
It’s from a documentary called ‘Holy Ghost People’…They are Pentecostal Christians who handle poisonous snakes and drink poison…Why do they that?
For that, you must use your brains and read up on them…That is the beauty of internet…Truth is out there…
Like in I, Robot the guy says, “Don’t ban the internet because you want libraries to exist…”
