If the way of the future is democracy why isnt the US allowing the Iraqis that freedom?

Let us all pray that a theocracy does not come to pass in Iraq. If we use Glorious Iran as an example, we could expect gross human rights violations, no freedom of religion, protest or speech. The way of the future is democracy and secularism, not appeasing the fundamentalists element that want to impose their radical beliefs on a whole country.

It really doesn't concern you or the US what form of government the Iraqi people choose. If the choice is free and fair you can bet your pickup and pig it will be anti-American and there's not much you or the US can do about it...that's if it's free and fair.
Is the US free and fair?

The US is. Iraq is not.
If the US or another international body can keep the peace in Iraq long enough for political parties and institutions to develop, the fundamentalists would not be the only organized party in Iraq and they wouldn't take over. A free and fair election after decades of tyranny cannot be held tomorrow.
A theocracy is not a democracy for all.

Thank you for admitting the obvious fact that many have been saying all along. If you people had any guts and wanted to let the Iraqi people excercise true democracy then you would allow the elections to be held soon, and get out as soon as possible. But alas American hypocrisy and double standards are being exposed even quicker than I thought, and the Iraqi people are not going to put up with it.
As I have stated before I hope you enjoy your stay in Iraq. :)
Seminole,
I get your logic; the Iraqi's are used to tyranny so let’s have another decade or two.
Let the elections be held under UN auspices. That'll solve all your woes of incremental change and nurturing freedom crap.
If the overwhelming majority in Iraq is not anti-American the votes have been rigged. Do you honestly believe your own administration BS about freedom through occupation, give a little credit to the Iraqi’s they would sooner stab an American through the heart than have him rule them.
Enough Iraqi's have lost family members to keep the embers glowing for long after you've shuffled off the mortal coil.
Also, the general population over there is savvy to puppet regimes, amply demonstrated by snuffing out potential US handpicked candidates for 'chamcha'
Yup Malik I hope the Americans enjoy their stay in Iraq too, but somehow I think they wont.
